I reach over the console and grab my school bag, I open my door and when I look back up, Gibsie is in the empty car space a few feet away, standing there with big grins on his face.
Here we go.
My guess is that Delilah told Claire about what happened yesterday, and as always Claire told Gibsie, so now I'm never going to hear the end of this.
I don't mind that Delilah told Claire, she can tell who she likes, I don't want her to think that I want to keep us a secret, because that's the last thing I want. If I could make Delilah my girlfriend right now, I would, but taking things slow and all that.
I close my car door and barely have time to put my school bag before Gibsie engulfs me in a hug, "I'm so proud of you lad! I feel like I should have made you a cake or something."
"Get off me ya idiot." I mumble, pushing him off me. "I didn't win the lottery, Jesus."
"You may as well have." Gibsie grins as we start walking towards the building. "I mean you made out with Delilah Lynch- ye lucky bastard."
"Who made out with who?" Hughie appears practically out of thin air with Katie under his arm. "Actually wait, Gibs, If you're telling Feely about another person you've made out with, spare us."
"Oh no, no." Gibsie laughs, "Not me this time, Hugh." He slaps a hand on my shoulder, "Our boy Feely finally grew some balls and kissed Delilah."
Hughie and Katie both stop walking and look at each other with wide eyes, which makes Gibsie laugh even harder, and I come to the conclusion that I need new friends.
"Do I want to know what's going on right now?" I hear which makes me turn around and see Johnny walk on over to us, with a confused expression. "What is so funny Gibs?"
"No way, Pa. You and Delilah actually kissed?!" Hughie asked, making me look back at him, and I nod my head. "Yep. I have to go to class now." I say, turning and walking around but Gibsie drags me back by my school bag and wraps an arm around my shoulder, "Not so fast, Buddy. We're not done talking."
"I think we are."
"Oh no we are not, and anyways you can't get away from me-we have class together all day."
"Not if I skip them." I retort and Gibsie makes a face at me. "Well that's news I didn't expect to hear this morning." Johnny mumbles, with a grin on his face. "Good on you, Lad."
"Just don't do anything stupid." Hughie says once we start walking again, "Otherwise I'll probably have to beat you up on Claire's behalf."
"Understood."
"Just imagine what Joey the Hurler will do when he finds out what happened, I don't think he'll be happy."
I ignore Gibsie and walk away from my eejit friends and Katie. when I get to my first class of the day, I place my bag down on the seat next to me and pull my phone out of my pocket, noticing two texts from Delilah.
