That house was loud with people partying and music blaring. Jungwon and I usually come to at least one of Mark's parties while we are here. He lives with his parents and they seem to never be home in their huge mansion and Mark is always having a party.
"Nari!" Jake called to me, waving me over to a group sitting in a circle in the sunroom, looking out over the huge pool.
"You guys don't need a sacrifice or anything, right?" I asked, laughing nervously.
"Don't be dramatic." Jake rolled his eyes, which was a lot coming from him, since he was the drama king. "We are getting ready to play truth or dare, do you want to play?"
"Truth or dare? Isn't that a middle schoolers game?"
"Don't be a party pooper!" Jay said from the circle where he was sitting beside Jungwon, a hand on his shoulder. "Jungwon is playing."
"Yeah, come on Nari, it could be fun."
"Fine." I sighed and fit myself in beside Sunoo.
Round after round goes by, everyone daring each other to do silly things. One guy had to go dive into the snow naked, that was funny. Most of the girls stuck to truth. I am pretty sure they were afraid the guys would ask them to go into the snow, too.
"Nari," Jay said when it was his turn after he admitted that he had sexual fantasies about his Psych professor for his truth. "Truth or dare?"
I thought about it for a minute. In the past, in middle school, I had always picked truth and the question was always the same. Were Jungwon and I really just friends or did I feel something more for him? I had no doubt Jay would ask the same thing, even after all these years.
"Dare." I said instead, not wanting the same question.
"I dare you to kiss Jungwon." Jay said with a smirk. "For at least thirty seconds."
"What?" I asked in shock, my eyes flying to Jungwon, who's face was red now too, but he was looking at Jay. "No, pick something else."
"That's what I picked. Kiss Jungwon for thirty seconds."
"Why are you doing this?" Jungwon asked in what I am sure the thought was a whisper.
"Because I want you two to see there is something there." Jay said. "There has to be. Do you not find it weird she doesn't date? She is gorgeous, guys try all the time. She lives with you for crying out loud."
"Jay..." Jungwon started, but I shook my head.
"Fine." I cut him off. If this is what I had to do to prove there was nothing between Jungwon and I, so be it. Jungwon's head snapped to me, his eyes looking like they might fly out of his head.
"What?"
"It's just lips touching, Won, it'll be fine." I said and downed the rest of the beer in my cup, hoping it helped me get through kissing my best friend.
"That is such a lame dare." Sunoo said, probably to help me.
"Can we go to another room?" I asked as I stood up, straightening out my dress.
"No, it has to be in front of all of us, for proof." Jay answered, tilting his head up as Jungwon stood up, too. "It isn't your first kiss is it?"
"No." I said, narrowing my eyes at Jay. He knew very well it wasn't. He and I had kissed before winter break after coming back from the library after a study session. I had told him we couldn't make anything of it. He was convinced it was because I had feelings for Jungwon. Which is what prompted this.
"Nari," Jungwon said nervously as he came to the middle of the circle where I was. He looked at me, biting his lip. "We really don't have to. It is a stupid game."
