Arian and Rae stood side by side, watching the girls practice their splits. Joy was written all over Arianna's face; she attended every activity and event, always cheering her baby girl on. Seeing her daughter thrive in gymnastics made her heart swell with joy.

"Thank you for bringing us today. Honestly, I'm glad your brother couldn't make it, Her dad had been consistent lately, and it's....weird," Arianna admitted, resting her head on Rae's shoulder.

"Anytime, girl. And I'm happy he not here—I don't have the energy to deal with him going to jail over Dame weak ass." Rae replied, resting her head on top of Arianna's. In truth, Rae was supposed to get Arianna ready for Trevon's surprise for later: he was planning to pick her up for an unforgettable night. Arianna had no idea what the day would turn into.

Just then, a deep and familiar voice broke her out of her thoughts. "Hey, beautiful. Can I hey a hug?" Arianna's heart dropped. Turning around, she was face-to-face with DeMario. His long dreads pulled back into a ponytail, and his dark, Cartier-framed shades sat perfectly on his face.

"Hey, DeMario."She replied, her voice flat. They locked eyes—DeMario's gaze filled with lust and longing, while hers only held annoyance.

"You aren't happy to see me, mama? Isn't this what you wanted, for me to show up and be there." DeMario questioned, one eyebrow raised.

"Yeah, but every time you say you're going to be a dad, it ends up being manipulative shit behind it," Arianna said in a low tone. "Please don't use your daughter as a pawn in whatever game you're playing."

"That's the thing, Ari—you never get it. I want my family back. I miss you and I miss us," he replied, his eyes staring into hers.

"Dame, get yo big ass out of here," Rae snapped, taking a step forward. " 'Cause I will have my bro-"

"Rae, stop. He not worth a fight." Arianna interrupted, gently pulling her back. Together, the duo walked away, leaving DeMario alone to ponder their words. Arianna glanced over back at DeMario watching Ayla doing her flips, cheering her on. Arianna had no clue why but she knew that DeMario wasn't being genuine but she would find out soon enough.
