Trevon Gardner

Trevon walked into his sister's home carrying a white board and a dry-erase marker, a surge of nerves hitting him like an electric shock. It had been two days since the dinner with Arianna and Ayla, and Arianna's words replayed in his mind. The only way he would finally call her his was to ask her to be his girlfriend—he had to get Ayla's blessing first. Trevon walked into the kitchen where Rae was seated, sorting through paperwork that was due at the end of the week.

"Hey, little brother, what's going on?" Rae asked, glancing up briefly from her assignments.

"Hey, Rae. I need your help with something." Trevon replied, sitting across from her at the table.

"You need my help? Now that's new." Rae asked raising an eyebrow, taking her glasses off, and looking at him curiously.

"I want to ask Ari to be my girl friend." Trevon admitted, watching at his sister's expression turn into surprise from his revelation.

"You...asking Arianna to be your girlfriend? Trevon Marshawn Gardner?" Rae repeated, making sure she hear him correctly.

"Man, see I knew you was gonna over do it. But yeah, I'm asking her to be my girlfriend. Usually, other girls I messed around with, they just gave in, but Ari is different. Why you were you keeping her from me?" Trevon asked with a playful smirk.

"Excuse me? I never kept her away from you! For one, you got too much street shit going on to be bothered, and two, she turned you down the first try, remember." Rae teased, eyeing the white board and marker he's brought.

"Tre, you are going to make me cry for Ari! So, you plan on trying to talk with Ayla?" Rae asked with her eyes locked on Trevon who chuckled nervously.

"Yeah I want to ask her for permission. They are a package deal, Rae—I can't leave her out of anything." Trevon explained with a sigh, glancing back at his sister, who was now shining with joy.

"Want me to get her? She is in the back room with Leigh," Rae offered, her excitement clearer than ever.

"Yeah, let's get her so we can work this plan out—and get the girls ready to go look at the car." Trevon replied, watching Rae disappear into the back to get Ayla. Moments later, Ayla stepped into the kitchen, her eyes curious as she glanced up at Trevon. He patted a seat next to him, giving her an inviting smile.

Ayla furrowed her brow, lifting her hands with palms up, fingers pointed and shaking them side to side in a questioning motion. Trevon chuckled, pointing to the whiteboard and marker to answer her question.
