The Engineer smiled dazedly as she watched Orm fix the button of her blouse, smiling secretly as she saw the tinge of blush colored the alabaster skin of the University's vice president after hearing what her Grandmother had said. It was fun. Seeing Orm who was usually confident get Obviously nervous. And yes, she's a menace for having this much fun.
"What, ma'am?" Orm asked, confused.
It took a few awkward moments of the old lady staring into Orm's eyes before the grandmother burst out laughing. Clearly, they just tripped up Orm. The latter glared at Ling who just shrugged but the smile that's painting her lips almost reached the sky, clearly proud of what her grandmother did before offering a high five to the old woman.
"Just kidding, I'm the grandmother of this naughty girl, you can call me grandma as well, did you eat?" The old lady asked gently but it's clear that this is where Ling inherited her mischief as the old eyes sparkled gleefully.
"That's right, gran. She just finished venting her grudge so she should eat right away." Ling butted in and in embarrassment, Orm couldn't stop pinching the footballer's side.
"Oh, that hurts! Motherfuc-"
Before she could even finish what she wanted to say, a loud smack was heard as Ling's grandmother slapped her mouth. It was so fast that Ling couldn't have any opportunity to dodge it. "No swearing inside the house."
Ling cupped her mouth and pouted, "Okay fine. I'll just shout my curses later when I'm out of the house."
Orm was just looking at the duo who was clearly but casually bickering. Again, it's evident that the rowdy football player loves her grandma and respects her but the banter between the two of them seems so normal. Like an old friend welcoming each other with a playful teasing. The dynamic is entirely different from what she grew up with. Orm can't help but smile softly. She didn't know that this jerk was also hiding some kindness.
After the pandemonium, Even if Orm wanted and insisted to leave, the old woman did not allow her until she ate the snack she prepared. It was a freshly steamed shumai with soy sauce and calamansi accompanied by an orange juice. Granny just let them hang out in the living room while finishing the snack and Ling who was still pouting was playing on her phone, looking at her teasingly from time to time which she only answered with a glare.
When all is said and done, she respectfully expressed her gratitude and called a cab to take her home.
"I don't know if you know but the Student Governing body is planning to have a Halloween party." She said to Ling who was just leaning on the railing of their gate and accompanying her while she's waiting for the cab because of her grandmother's insistence.
"What do I care about that?" The footballer asked rudely and Orm couldn't help but roll her eyes. She doesn't really remember that she ever talked to this dumbass in a sensible manner. Ling when not talking about football or her mathematical formula and girls would always and surely spout nonsense after nonsense. Orm was getting used to the crude comments of the Footballer so she ignored it and explained.
