Maybe he's not worth
The pain and trouble,
The darkness closes
All I do now is to wait.Texas' POV
I struggled to raise my head. This has been my life for the past 72 hours or so. I've lost track of time. Riot's been here with me though. I'm kinda glad he's here, although my soul yearns for his touch again, he cannot allow that, the doctor has ordered strict bed rest."Riot, do you think I still look nice?" Riot shook his head. "I look better than you, stupid." And he burst out laughing. "Hah, funny you should say that, you must see the face you pulled when you carried me to the medical ward. It's quite charming, to say the least." I looked out the window. "What day is it?" He looked at me and whispered, "the 23 of May. 2035. You came back, but the anomaly luckily did not cause you to dilate time so much that you could leap forward in time. If not, I wouldn't be here, stupid." He brushed my hair behind my ear. "You look the same ever since I've met you, Tex."
I sighed. I never gave him the pleasure of letting him get to know me well. I was too caught up in training, besides, I'm an independent woman. I don't need a man to feel happy. Although, my resolve toward that has been crumbling since I've been warded. I turned back to his slate grey eyes, the same eyes that filled with sadness every time he saw me cry. The same ones that...filled with regret every time he left for training after staying with me in my room. I would never tell him my secrets, my privacy is none of his business. I calmly spoke, "Riot, would you give..." The general and Sierra stormed in, breaking my sentence. "I'm sorry Tex, there's been a development. Riot, could u assist in bringing Tex to the command room?"
Riot looked concerned, but replied with a curt nod. "Well, looks like I won't be asking you for any favors anytime soon." I said to Riot as he picked me up. "Maybe next time, stupid."
I clutched my right arm as we headed downstairs. My leg feels better than my arm though, at least they managed to dig the bullet out and sew it together. It was healing faster, and now I could walk, but it still hurt. A lot. I'm glad to be in his arms again, although or a short while, but nonetheless.
We gathered at the Command Room, with the surviving members of Wolf Fang along with Riot sitting inside. The general cleared his throat and spoke first. "Gentlemen, and Tex, it seems that we have a dire situation to deal with. Firstly, this man, Sigma, has captured one of your team mates, X-Ray, and has severely injured another. We cannot stand for this. Revenge is normally not allowed in our corps, but we will make the exception follow the larger picture we see before us." He clicked a button and the holograph came up, illuminating the room with a green glow. "The pricks of light show the targeted spots for nuclear bombs. All of them. On every single country. Sigma has the best hacker we have in the corps. He can rig all the bombs to go off at once, and at the same time prevent anyone else from disarming them. This is what we believe he is holding X-Ray for. Secondly, the next location you guys will be entering is not the safest of places to go to, but we must, as the enemy there has quite the monopoly on nuclear arms and material. Unfortunately, two of you will not be attending." Sierra and Scythe looked at each other and back at the general. "Texas and Riot, you will stay here on recon. Riot, I want you to be kind to Texas. Try to make a friend. Texas, as you are significantly injured, we cannot risk your life. So you will stay here."
I stood up to protest, but was immediately responded with a sharp pain in my leg and my arm going numb. I fell onto my chair, cringing as I clutched my arm. I started panting. "This...pain...I'm sorry, Sierra." Sierra looked at me with a aura of concern, but said nothing. Scythe and Riot helped me up, sitting me back in my chair.
"In addition," I turned to look at the general. He seemed to be in thought.
"Two new members will be joining Wolf Fang to replace you guys while you are resting here. They will be arriving in three days time to start their intensive training. Maybe you have met them before, or maybe not. Either way just be hospitable, they're people too."
