Brendon's P.O.V

It was still incomprehensible that Iris was here, sitting beside me. All of my dreams had come true in less than a day. It was a lot to take in but, I think I was handling it pretty well. It was hard to keep my eyes off of her. She was just as beautiful as the day she left.

The way she talked was so captivating, the way her lips moved, the way her eyes sparkled. It was as if she was hand crafted by the worlds greatest artist and was handed directly to me. An art so priceless that I would never part with.

"I need you to know that, not many people know about this. I'm trusting you." Iris said.
I nodded my head without speaking a word, letting her know that she had my undivided attention.
"When I was living in Oklahoma, I had this boyfriend. His name was Ian. Things between us were great... until he started acting different." She started. "At first it was just some name calling here and there. Then it happened more often with some shoves and pushes."

The words she spoke didn't make sense to me. How could someone even think about doing something like that to her? Iris was so sweet and caring. I started to feel myself becoming upset listening to it all. Still, I kept listening to her as she said more.

"It didn't take long for it to go even further. Throwing things at me, strangling me. There were times where I was genuinely scared for my life as he threatened to take it away." She continued. "I ran into him while I was in Miami and I tried getting out of there before he could see me, but it was too late."

She took a deep breath before continuing.

"Ever since I ran into him, the nightmares that I use to have, instantly came back. I just thought that since I had ran into him, that's why they started back up. I didn't see him again after I left Eleven." She said. "To answer your question, I didn't show up at your place because when I had stopped at my apartment to grab some things, I found it completely destroyed."

I looked at her with my eyebrows scrunched together.
"You got robbed?" I asked her, confused.
"Not exactly. That's what you'd think looking at it but, nothing was missing." She told me.
"Well, what happened?" I asked her, intrigued.
"There was a note left on my counter along with a necklace. The note said 'See you soon', and the necklace was the one that Ian had given me when we were together." She finished.
"So you're telling me that this Ian dude broke into your house, destroyed it, and basically threatened you?" I asked her, starting to feel anger rise in me.
"It was a threat I couldn't ignore, Brendon. I had to get away from everyone I cared about. That included you." She said softly.

My eyes softened at what she said. She always knew how to do that. But some anger still remained. I stood up from the couch and started pacing in front of the coffee table.
