The med room had been fairly quiet all night, Wei had moaned several times when his temperature rose but he was in much less pain, and Li cooled him down with a wet wipe whenever he saw him looking uncomfortable. In the morning, Chu called in to relieve the guard before he examined Wei's wound which looked less inflamed than it had been the night before and he was glad to see a small improvement, and watched while Wei became more aware. He had been unconscious since before he was teleported back from the cave, and when he opened his eyes, Chu was standing looking down at him with a smile.
"How are you feeling, do you know where you are My Lord?"
"Yes Chu, and I'm not planning on moving any time soon. It must have been a poacher who shot me. I'm not sure how I ended up on the homeworld, I didn't teleport, I was unconscious. How bad is the damage?"
Chu hesitated before he sat beside him to explain, which worried Shen Wei, he recognised when doctors had to give bad news.
"The wound itself will heal, but there was dark energy in the bullet and that's what caused some injury to the Spirit, and also to you. Ava explained it. We had to deal with an injury from alien dark energy once before but it was such a long time ago, she remembered and I didn't. We need to find a man called Mr Black who saved a host's life and offered his service if we ever needed him again."
Wei had managed to work out some things by himself and he felt a heavy sadness take over while he came to terms with some of the outcomes if this man couldn't be found, before he asked Chu questions.
"How is Ava and Gelan?"
Chu shook his head and explained that Ava had been in bed since yesterday and Gelan was probably the same but they hadn't phoned to find out.
"What about Track? Where is he? He doesn't know this world, it's so different to his, the sooner we can send him back, the better it will be for him unless he decides to stay."
Chu smiled as he answered, "He's spending time with the guards who are trying to help him understand things more easily, they love him for his action in saving your life. Now, anything else before I leave you for a couple of hours?"
Wei shook his head and watched as Chu slowly walked away, he must be going to work. He looked at the ceiling as he tried to concentrate. He was thinking about the voice from last night and tried to talk to him, just to thank him, but that was an excuse, he just wanted to talk to him.
"Lan, can you hear me?" Wei called in his mind and waited for a few minutes.
Yunlan was surprised that the cook was unwell but the butler was just as good and he enjoyed his meal before he left the house. This would be his first official day at his new job and his stomach was doing cartwheels. He didn't have a car, but one of the servants was driving him this morning and would take him anywhere he wanted to go. It was like having a private taxi, Yunlan thought, and was smiling in the back of the car when Wei's thoughts filled his mind.
"Good morning Wei, so you didn't die after all, how are you today, did you get home or end up in a hospital?" He asked in his thoughts.
"I have some small complications, so don't hang up your black suit too soon. I'm in private care, I think that I have you to thank for sending help, thank you. I need some special treatment but after that I should be alright. What about you, what are you doing?" Wei asked as he stared at the ceiling.
"It's my first day in this new job and I feel sick, my stomach is full of butterflies. I've been in the police force for over ten years and I'm acting as if it was my first day on the job, it doesn't make sense."
