Too hot to handle.

A deluge of memories escaped which Yunlan had kept hidden since childhood and assaulted the mind of the snake, taking him by surprise at the strength of the concealed skills. Apep knew about the flames but he also saw psychokinesis. Yunlan was able to instantly stop a person from moving, or the complete opposite and force them to do what he suggested which had caused problems for him as a child when he didn't fully understand what he was doing.

His parents were fearful of his temper combined with this skill and had searched for someone who could cure him, but Yunlan had taken an instant dislike to the man and his session of understanding the child's mind didn't end well. Luckily because of his young age, his suggestions to the unfortunate ones revolved around childlike behaviour, and he began to see the dangers himself as he grew up.

Apep could understand why he'd kept this locked away but not his flames which could help them get out of this situation. However he found nothing to explain why Yunlan was being watched by the smoky shadow man and he released him from his thoughts.

Wei moved slightly as he awoke and realised where he was. He turned his head to look at Yunlan who smiled down at him and badly wanted to kiss him but he was shocked when he felt Wei's soft lips touching him gently before he explored deeper, and Yunlan backed off quickly as he stood up and moved away. Apep had opened the door to an old skill and Yunlan was afraid that he had influenced Wei's reaction. This had to be Wei's own decision and not his mental suggestion.

"Ah Lan, was I wrong, is it too soon, have I misjudged the situation? I thought we were more than just friends." Wei was hurt by his reaction and confused as he sat waiting for an answer.

"Wei, no. It's me. I love you more than life, but ... it's difficult to explain. Apep brought some memories back to the surface, things that I'd buried. I just needed to know that you wanted to kiss me," Yunlan replied as he paced to and fro, putting space between Wei and himself.

Suddenly the door opened and two henchmen came in to take them both back to the laboratory, but Wei was still sitting on the floor and one of them leaned over to grip his arm and pull him to his feet, until Yunlan spoke to him.

"Don't Touch Him. Leave him alone. Why are we going back to the laboratory?" Yunlan asked the one nearest to Wei while the other man moved towards him, and he growled at him as he stared.

"Stand Still. Do not move until you are told."

Both men obeyed without question, waiting until Yunlan spoke to them again while Wei watched, amazed at what he was seeing.

"I didn't mean to hurt you Wei, I was afraid that I planted the idea in your mind, and I didn't want that, it had to be your emotion, your thought, not me asking for something I desperately wanted."

Wei understood and felt his heart leap as he moved closer and spoke quietly in front of Yunlan who could feel his breath as he almost touched him.

"You cannot influence my mind, Zhao Yunlan, now kiss me before you start talking to the ones behind me, or would you rather wait longer," Wei smiled as he attacked Yunlan's lips before he had the chance to think or change his mind, and then stepped back to watch what was going to happen with the two henchmen.

"Tell me. Why are we returning to the lab?" Yunlan demanded.

"Ouyang Zhen has the results and he wants to start draining the cells for the base of his new drug," the first man replied without changing the tone in his voice.

"How do we get out of here, tell me?" Yunlan demanded.

"This lab is two floors down with a security room above." One man said.
