Daqing dozed for most of the day because he was a natural night predator when he stayed in his cat form which gave the impression of him being a lazy human, but since the event, he had remained as a cat. He had hidden his skills.

There was nothing to catch his interest and all the nursing staff had been informed about the guard cat, but he wasn't a problem for them. He allowed the nurses to lift him when they wanted to attend to Wei's physical needs and some actually put him back in place when they were finished. However if a nosey porter or someone not connected with the staff came near their patient, the cat raised his back and showed his sharp claws while he hissed, which was enough to drive them away.

At last the ward settled down and it was dark enough for Daqing to wander around without drawing too much attention to himself. He went from bed to bed looking into the minds of all the sleeping men who had been found and they were all in the same condition, asleep in the middle of a grey empty floor. This was intentional, some one had put them in this place but it looked like individual rooms because they were all alone, and they were normal humans. There was no mental link between them.

Daqing hadn't eaten for a while and wandered to the kitchen to see what was on offer, but glanced around for security cameras first before he changed into his human state. He raided the fridge and ate some sandwiches before he found some chocolate and then made a coffee. Before he left, he opened a window to make it look as they'd been burgled during the night and then changed into a cat before he returned to Wei's room.

Nothing had changed and he sat on Wei's chest as he concentrated and entered the room with the bare grey floor in Wei's mind. He approached and walked around Wei's body, looking for anything out of the ordinary, but saw nothing. So he tried nudging him several times with his head under his hand to awaken him, with no reaction. He then tried yowling in Wei's ear, loud enough to deafen any normal human, but Wei never stirred and he was left with his last option, which he didn't want to use, pain. Daqing walked towards Wei's left hand and took a deep breath in to calm himself before he sank his teeth into his wrist and waited.

The pain registered in Wei's mind and he awoke looking into a thick fog for the source. But he could only see two green lights which became clearer as the mist dissipated, until he could make out the shape of a cat with bright green glowing eyes, and he stared at it as he sat on the floor.

"At last you're awake, and I'm sorry I had to bite you My Lord." But Wei just stared at this talking cat in the empty room sitting beside him.

"You can talk? Cats don't usually talk, do they? Where is this place and why am I here? And you called me My Lord, who am I?"

Daqing groaned, this was going to be more difficult than he thought.

"Your name is Shen Wei, so for a short while, I'm going to call you Wei until you know who you are. What do you remember?"

Wei looked at the room and didn't know this place and he looked at the talking cat, he didn't know him either. He looked at his hands, especially his left and felt that there was something he should know but it was gone for now. He was dressed in his night clothes with a dressing gown and he checked his pockets but there was only a black handkerchief, and he took it out to see it better.

Daqing's eyes lit up with hope and he called on Feng. Nothing seemed to happen until he asked a question while he looked away from Shen Wei.

"Feng ... Are you here, please be here?"

"Daqing, where is this place and what's Lord Shen doing here?"

Wei showed mild fear and confusion before daqing quickly explained to him that there was nothing to be afraid of.
