Pete's POV
"Peter, wake up. We have arrived home at the pack house." Alpha Mejia said, as he shook me awake.
I immediately woke up and looked around. We were pulling into the drive way leading up to the pack house. I turned looking at him slightly confused. "We haven't arrived home yet, sir. We are only in the drive way." I then remembered that he had woke me up, "Sorry I fell asleep on you, Alpha."
He smiled at me. "No reason to apologize you have been going on so many patrols that you needed the sleep. I would be considered a bad Alpha if I didn't look out for me pack. Plus you have been doing a lot of thinking since we left the Silver Moon Pack's territory. Needless to say you needed to sleep."
"Thank you, sir." I said as I nodded my head. I looked toward the pack house and instantly felt aggravated. There on the porch stood the Alpha and Beta's daughters. 'I don't want to deal with her right now. I just want to go for a run and patrol,' I said to Victor.
'Then tell Alpha we want to go for a run. Which won't be a lie I want to go for one,' Victor stated.
Before I could open my mouth to say anything. They were already at the car, knocking on the Alphas window, which he of course rolled down. "Yes?" He asked.
"Daddy, can me and Brittany go for a run? I know we are going to need a guard so can Pete go with us? Please Daddy!!" Mandy asked her father.
He sighed, seemed to think before he answered her. "Mandy, dear, you do realize how late it is and with the rogues out there, unknown when they will attack, I don't know, sweetie."
She pouted, everyone knew she got what she wanted one way or another when it came to her dad. "How about this we will stay close to the pack house and we won't be out for very long, plus Pete is the best fighter in the pack. Please, Daddy?!" She pleaded more.
'Alpha, please say no,' I begged silently. I was startled when Victor growled. 'What's wrong Victor?' I asked him.
'I do not want that...she-wolf, with us when we go for our run. She is going to try something and I don't like it one bit. If only....she was here.that would wipe that smirk off that bitches face.' Victor growled out only to soften toward the end.
'She, who?' I asked him even though I felt like I knew the answer. I turned to look at Mandy. I can understand why her dad is hesitant to let her out on a run. Her and Brittany both had yet to hit there 16th birthdays, which wasn't till next year.
"You two can go on a run with Pete. The second he says to leave, leave. Do not argue I will know if you two do." He stated, with a stern look at both of them. Of course they squealed and ran back inside to change.
"Alpha, I was going to ask to go on a run to patrol and clear my head and try to sift through all these thoughts in my head," I sighed and continued, "But I will do that after...their run," I ended with a growl.
Alpha looked at me sharply, "What's wrong, Peter?" A dangerous note slipping into his voice.
I tried to contain my growl and Victor so he wouldn't try to take over to talk. "My wolf, sir, doesn't like your daughter. He feels that she will try something. I am only saying this for you, Alpha, being her father. I don't know why he is so angered by her when he never reacted to her before at all. It's like ever since we seen....her, we can't stop thinking about her," I sighed running my fingers through my hair exasperated. "What's wrong with me?!" I turned looking at my Alpha for guidance.
He looked at me and studied my emotions which were plainly open to him. "It almost sounds like you have found your mate but her being a year away from 16 it's hard to tell. Go for a run with the girls. Go ahead and shift," he said finitely. "I feel like I must talk to Alpha Moore about something." He mumbled.
I took that as a dismissal and got out of the car, heading to the tree line. As my clothes came off, I felt my emotionless mask falling back into place. As I began to shift I heard the door opening and the Alpha's daughter and Beta's daughter come out giggling. 'This is going to be a long run, my friend.' I told Victor and all I got was a growl in reply.
...
"We are ready to go!" Mandy yelled. I cringed, not wanting to walk out. They spotted me in wolf form and walked over. "There you are, Pete! You want to lead the way or us?"
I nodded at her and padded behind them as the took off running toward one of the paths leading from the pack house. I looked around, looking for danger, and making sure that everything was fine.
I started to talk to Victor, 'I think I'm gonna turn this into a patrol and when I drop them off I'll run around some more,' I felt his approval. 'It feels good to be in wolf form. I wonder if she would....why do I keep thinking about her?' I asked in confusion.
Victor whined slightly, 'I really wish I knew. She is not far from my mind either, young pup,' he sighed, 'We should be heading back now we have ran far enough.'
I nodded and barked at the girls. They didn't seem to hear me or were ignoring me, that thought made me slightly mad. I picked up speed and run in front of them and came to a halt, making them stop. I barked and nodded back down the path.
Mandy smiled and started to move closer to me. She was swaying her hips like she was trying to get some reaction out of me. I showed my teeth and nodded back at the path. Victor was getting very mad. It sucked that they weren't able to shift her so I could tell them to get back down the path. I didn't want to have to shift, it would leave them vulnerable if there was an attack.
Mandy smiled and said, "Pete, I know it almost time to head back but can't we just stay out here a little longer. You can shift back and we can talk on the way back." I was already shaking my head before she even finished her statement. She pouted, "Fine, come on Britt. Let's go home."
I sighed and I felt Victor calm down. I mind linked her Dad, 'On the way back, sir.' He sent his silent approval.
When I had dropped the girls off at the house, I took off to finish patrol and then to go home and hopefully get some much needed sleep.
About 2 hours later patrol was done. 'Everything's clear, sir. Going home and gonna lay down to get some much needed sleep.' I told Alpha Mejia. I knew he was probably asleep but I had to send it anyways.
'Thank you, Peter. Tomorrow I would like for you to have a day off of patrols. You need your strength. Plus I may have a job for you tomorrow. Come see me after 2. Now go home and get some sleep,' he answered back.
'Yes, sir' I sent back. Then took off in the direction of my house. Victor had been really quiet on the patrol usually he talks about something but he seems to be quietly pondering something.
'So it seems I can't hide my confusion from you,' he sighed. 'Just earlier today really had me stumped and I want to figure it out but something tells me all in due time. We will know what the moon goddesses will is for us and who our mate will be.'
'I couldn't agree with you more, Vic,' I answered as I shifted back, grabbing the pair of shorts I leave by the porch, and walked into the house going upstairs to my room. I needed to lay down to get some sort of sleep.
When I walked into my room I noticed something on my pillow. I picked it up and noticed it was a letter. It was from my 9 year old sister. I pulled it out of the envelope and read it.
"Hey bubba! Hope you got back from your trip! I was hoping to be up when you got home but I was so sleepy and Mommy said I needed to go to bed. So I asked if I could write you a letter and leave it for you so when you got home you could smile! I love you! Your little sis, Jessica <3"
By the end of the letter I was smiling. She was right I did smile. I'll have to surprise her in the morning and spend tomorrow with her. I walked out of my room and entered her room. Tiptoed over and kissed her on her forehead.
I walked back to my room smiling. I laid down on my bed not bothering with the cover. Got comfortable and soon fell asleep smiling. Dreaming about bright blue eyes and beautiful black hair.
