Chapter 2
Roxie's POV
When I got out of the shower and got ready for dinner, I walked back toward my dad's office hoping to see Pete still standing there. As I walked closer to the door, I noticed the door was open and the light was off. I looked around for Pete but didn't see him. I frowned and continued down the hall to the stairs.
At the top of the stairs I heard my mom ask, "You sure you guys won't stay for dinner? I made so much food!!"
I smiled to myself as I walked down the stairs knowing she wasn't lying, she always makes a lot of food. As I walked into the living room, I seen Pete and an older gentlemen standing by the door, smiling. 'That must be the Alpha, whom Pete was referring to," I thought to myself and Lunar if she was even listening.
She started to laugh as she replied, 'I am listening, silly.' Then she turned serious, 'I am sure that's the Alpha he was speaking about. He has an air of authority about him. Plus look how Pete stands close to him in a protective manner.'
I studied how Pete was stand on and how close he was to the Alpha. 'You're right. He is standing in a defensive manner. Something bad must be happening if he has to travel with a body guard inside an Alpha's house, especially one with my Dad's reputation. I wonder what it is? I'll wait to find out.'
As I stood at the door, my father spotted me and smiled. He motioned for me to come in and said, "Oh, Alpha Mejia, this is my daughter, Roxie. Roxie, this is Alpha Mejia. He is the Alpha of the Knight Pack, the pack over Indiana And Ohio."
Alpha Mejia looked at me and smiled, "It's nice to finally meet the daughter of Alpha Moore. He wouldn't shut up about how you finally beat him. If I remember correctly, he is supposed to be unbeatable?" He then turned to my Mom, "In answer to your question, Luna. I would love to stay for dinner but we must be getting back to the pack. With all those rogue attacks going on we need to get back. Take care and may the Moon Goddess watch over you and your family, Alpha and Luna Moore."
As the walked out the door I waved at Pete hoping he seen me. He glanced at me and smiled sadly at me. 'Wonder why he is sad? It makes me sad, weird. Well, at least we know what the meeting was about.'
'Yes, very true. That does sound bothersome, rogue attacks.' She answered back thoughtfully.
I turned to Dad and asked him, "Dad, how bad are the attacks?"
He looked at my mother first, who nodded then answered me, "The rogues are attacking trying to either survive or get territory, which happens from time to time. The problem with what's going on now is that the attacks are more frequent than ever before. They interrogated a rogue and all they know is is that someone trying to band them together to cause a war with Alpha Mejia's pack. He was asking for some help, which I gladly will give him."
I nodded thoughtfully, then skipped over to him and mom. I gave them both hugs and kisses on the cheek, then grabbed their hands and pulled them toward the dining room to eat.
......
Pete's POV
As the door closed I seen Roxie wave good bye to me, I smiled back to her, feeling sad that I didn't get to talk with her. 'Wish we could have talked to her.' I told Victor sadly.
'I know, trust me I know,' he whimpered back to me, as we got into the Alpha's car.
After he started the car and pulled out of the driveway, Alpha Mejia looked at me out of the corner of his eye. "What's wrong, Peter? Ever since we left you have been looking at the floorboard as if you have this great weight on your shoulders."
