Chapter 1
15 Years Later
Roxie's POV
*Beep!!!* *Beep!!!*
"Damn alarm. I don't want to get up." I said as I reached for the alarm clock. 'Time to wake up, Lunar.' I spoke to my wolf.
'I'm awake, lil one. Did you forget what today is?' She asked. I could feel her wolffish smile.
'I just woke up and you want me to remember what day it is? Let me look at my phone.' I replied tiredly. I reached for my phone and clicked it on. The time and date came up. 'The day before my 15th birthday!! Thank you for reminding me!!!' I said grinning.
She chuckled, 'Your quite welcome, Roxie. But don't forget we have training today. I'm itching for a stretch of the senses. Plus we have yet to beat your father.'
'Well, Lunar, he is the Alpha. So he kinda has to be hard on us, seeing how I am his only child and heir.' I sighed.
I looked around wondering what training exercise dad had planned for us today. I spotted the picture of all three of us, the day I was born. I don't know why but they looked sad and joyous at the same time, like they knew something was going to happen.
"Oh, well." I muttered out loud to myself. "Gotta get ready for training. Guess I'll ask dad about it later if I remember."
I walked over to my dresser and got my work-out clothes and walked back to the bed. I sighed and got ready. As I walked out the door I couldn't help but look at myself in the mirror. I don't know why I always do, but I just do. My eyes are a light blue but really bright. My hair is a pretty black. I have a very nice natural dark skin tone. I think I'm a bit tall for a girl from my pack, 5'9. Pack members say I look like my mom and dad mixed perfectly. I honestly don't see how I do. Mom is beautiful and dad is handsome, I'm just cute. Nothing special.
'Roxie, you are beautiful! Stop looking at yourself so negatively,' Lunar reprimanded me. 'Now we are gonna be late unless you run rather quickly to the gym. Oh don't forget your blindfold, you usually forget it.'
'Fine, this is gonna be fun. Thanks for reminding me about that. Why do I need it anyways?' I asked.
'I honestly don't know. Ever since training started we have had to wear it, maybe we can find out soon.' She answered thoughtfully.
I smiled and ran down the stairs, out the door, and towards the gym. Stopping by the lockers to grab my blindfold and iPod, then walked over to the punching bag to start practicing. I put my blindfold on and headphones in, blasting the music on high.
........
Three hours after I started, I smelt my dad approaching and turned around to face him. "Hey, Daddy," I greeted him as I pulled the blindfold off and my headphones out, smiling.
"Hey, sweetheart," he greeted, smiling back and kissed my forehead. "You really gave that punching bag a beating. How about a match? Maybe you can beat me this time."
"I believe I can," I giggled. Then I put on the blindfold and got into my fighting stance. "Okay, ready whenever you are."
I felt him walking around me, looking for an opening. As he walked behind my back, he charged me forcing me to sidestep him. I stuck my leg out in hopes of tripping him, then all the sudden, I got an urge to jump to the right. As I landed on the mat, I heard, and felt through the mat, a punch hit right where I was standing a second before. Before I could register the fact that I almost got hit, he charged again. My instinct was to jump high but for some reason I dropped and spun around with my leg extended taking his legs out from beneath him. I jumped on top of him and held him down and smiled.
