Roxie's POV

After my shower, I got dressed in some jean shorts and a nice tank top. I was looking in the mirror and tried to decide what I was gonna do with my hair when I knock came at my door. I looked at it slightly confused. "Who is it?" I call out.

"It's me, sweetie," I hear mom call through the door. As she walks in she says, " I was curious if I could do your hair for you. We may be having a guest for your birthday dinner if that's okay with you."

I looked at her and turned back to the mirror so she could do my hair. Then I take a deep breath and ask, "Who's coming over, Mom?"

She looked at me in the mirror, smiled at me, and then started to braid my hair. "You remember the boy with Alpha Mejia? I believe his name was Peter," she paused as I inhaled sharply then went back to talking, "He should be here when dinner gets ready. Alpha Mejia wants Peter to be trained by your father. He is a good warrior for his pack but he wants him to get better. I have a feeling he will soon be asked to be his son's Beta."

I looked away from the mirror as my mom kept braiding my hair. 'Is it bad that I feel happy but nervous about seeing him? Should I be ashamed of how I feel? Should I talk to Mom about it?' I silently asked Lunar.

I heard her sigh and felt her hesitation, 'I feel that it would be alright to talk to her about it. I feel happy as well, don't feel bad about it, little one. If it was bad to have a crush on someone knowing they may not be your mate, then the goddess wouldn't have inmates wolves so close together.'

She spoke with such certainty that I looked back up at Mom and took a deep breath. "Mom, I need to talk to you and it not get back to Dad. He is already so protective of me about a lot of things and I don't want him to get upset about anything." I looked at her pleadingly.

She looked back slightly concerned as she leaned forward and grabbed a hair tie for my hair. "What's wrong, sweetie? I promise this will stay between us," she said as she turned me toward her and stuck up her pinkie finger.

I smiled and grabbed her pinkie with mine. "I think I might have a crush on Pete. I can't explain it and neither can Lunar but there is something about him that attracts us to him. Ever since he left I have been thinking about him and the fact that he might have a mate or he doesn't. I don't know he never did answer me when I asked him." I stopped rambling and looked at Mom, "Is something wrong with me?"

She smiled and pulled me in for a hug, "There is nothing wrong with you, Roxie. He is unmated, his scent isn't mixed with another females and he doesn't bare a mate mark. I know we have talked about this before when you came of age to know about mates." She pulled back and looked at me with a raised eyebrow, "I guess I never really showed you how to tell the difference between mated and unmated wolves, male or female. I believe it's time me and your father have a chat about teaching you about being an alpha." She stood up as she finished. "Let's go downstairs and see your dad, want to help me with dinner?"

I smiled at her and nodded my head. "I'll meet you downstairs, I want to call Kacy and Aunt Tonya real quick. Kacy wants to hang out this weekend. She said she would call you tomorrow. Aunt Tonya said that she and my cousins will be down this weekend to visit."

She nodded and smiled, "Okay, sweetie. I'll be in the kitchen when your done." I smiled and nodded back.

Pete's POV

I sighed as I waited on the light to turn green, feeling anxious to get to Alpha Moore's for some reason. "What keeps drawing me back there?" I asked out load to no one in particular. "Hell, I must be going crazy talking to myself now." I shook my head at myself.

'What's wrong, Peter? I'm already anxious enough as it is. If you want to talk you don't have to ask the air, I am here for you,' Victor told me, I could feel him softly whacking his head at me. 'We got an hour to go till we get there, plus I am starving can't you hear my stomach growl?'

I laughed out loud at him as I hit the gas to go forward. 'I realize that but sometimes I just want to talk out load to hear myself talk,' I smiled, 'Plus I'm also glad we get to go back, that food smelled amazing! I hope she made plenty cause I swear I'm growing again.' I heard the snort and smiled bigger.

As I was turning to the road that would be the last 30 miles before I turned onto the pack house road, my phone started to ring. I frowned and reached over hitting the answer button on my cars steering wheel. "Hello?" I asked questionably.

"Hi, Peter. It's Alpha Moore," said the voice on the other end. "I hope you don't mind I asked your Alpha for your number to call and see how much farther till your here."

"That's fine, Alpha. I don't mind I meant to aka him to give it to you. I am about 30 miles out," I answers at the same time my stomach growled. I flinched, "Sorry, Alpha. I'm starving I haven't eaten yet." I said feeling myself blush.

He started to laugh, "My wife would be telling you to hurry up if she wasn't getting Roxie ready for her birthday dinner," he paused for a second, then continued, "Hurry up and be safe. My pack knows your coming and if any attack let me know immediately."

"Yes,sir!" I answered as he hung up. 'Well at least we know there is gonna be food and we get to see Roxie again' I couldn't help the big grin that split my face. I stepped on the gas to get there faster.

Victor took that moment to speak up, 'If Roxie is gonna be there, then hurry up, but safely do so!!' He chuckled then added, 'Also cause I know we are starving. I want to know what this connection is about.'

I nodded and silently agreed as I continued to drive. I snuck a peek out my driver side window to the setting sun and smiled, 'We got about 10 minutes till we get there, so hush up.' I told him. I got a growl in response. I shook my head at him and speed up some more.
