Accidents

Edward was on the phone after breakfast,
"What?!"
He was on the phone with 2nd lieutenant Ross, talking about the accident yesterday,
"Exactly what you heard, Edward-Kun."
"Where's Mustang?"
Maria glances to Roy who's been silent for the whole time Riza has been hospitalized,
"He's to devastated to talk right now..."
Winry hears all the yelling from the workshop so she goes and checks it out,
"Ed, what's going on?"
"Winry, lieutenant has just been rushed to the emergency room!"
"Eh?"
Riza was also somebody important to her, of course she would worry,
"A fire, and explosion happened..."
"Edward-Kun!"
Maria finally got Edward's attention from the other side of the line,
"Y-Yes...?"
"Mustang would like to talk to you."
They hear a few random noises as Maria passes the telephone to Roy,
"Mustang, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine..."
Ed can barely hear him, then Winry puts her hand on Edward's to get his attention,
"Ed, can I talk to him?"
Edward nods slowly and hands the phone to Winry as she quietly puts it up to her ear,
"Roy...?"
"I'm sorry, I'm like this..."
He grits his teeth,
"Should we come and visit?"
"No, it'd be a lot of effort for you and the baby..."
"How about this, should Edward go and visit?"
Edward perks up, it's rare for Winry to let him go off so easily, he'd like to for Winry's regards but he's worried about what's gonna happen when he's away,
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, bring some apple pie I made while you at it."
Winry can tell what Ed was thinking,
"Don't worry Granny can take care of me."
"Yeah, I know."
He quickly grabs the pie that was sitting on the window still and gave Winry a quick hug, grabbed his coat and ran to catch the next train.
Winry puts the phone to her ear once more,
"Roy, I'm counting on Ed, then."
