Year 128

Westeros

Sunspear , Dorne

The silence hung heavily in the air, until Rhaenyra broke it, her voice edged with disbelief still looking at Serena's mother.

"Kyria?..." She asked, as though confirming an impossible sight.

Lady Kyria, poised and collected, dipped her head with a graceful respect.

"Your Grace. Has my daughter caused any sort of trouble?"

Rhaenyra's gaze shifted between Kyria and Serena, flickering between recognition and confusion. The intensity of her stare seemed to deepen, almost as if searching for answers she didn't expect to find.

Serena and Sylara glanced up at their mother, and then back at the princess, while Lucerys and Aegon looked between the adults, still clueless.

Cassian, however, stood silent, observing the exchange with an understanding that none of the younger ones possessed.

After a weighted pause, Rhaenyra seemed to shake herself from her thoughts, though the surprise lingered in her eyes.

"No, your daughter was only introducing herself..." She hesitated, then finally asked, "Did you... marry Lord Dayne?"

Serena began to suspect that, at some point in the past, there must have been some kind of history between her mother and the princess...

With composure unwavering but with a cool sharpness to her tone, Lady Kyria replied, "Yes, Your Grace. I married Lord Aerion Dayne in the ninth month of the year 114 A.C."

There was a subtle pause, and then, with a polite nod, Kyria added, "If you'll excuse us, Your Grace. I wish to check on my son."

She gently took Serena's hand, guiding her back toward the healer's tent where Elyas waited.

As they walked away, Rhaenyra watched them, a restrained shock and an old, haunting recognition flashing across her face, while the memory stirred restlessly just beyond her grasp.

As they entered the tent, Elyas and Aerion looked up, noting the unusual tension on Lady Kyria's face. Elyas immediately asked.

"What happened out there? And... my water?" He added with a smirk, trying to lighten the mood, though his eyes were still curious.

"Everything is fine?" Serena's father asks with a worried look.

"We simply ran into the princess outside," Kyria said smoothly, her tone giving no hint of further explanation. Aerion, however, seemed to catch something in her voice or expression, his brows knitting together briefly in understanding. But he, too, stayed silent.

Serena, glancing between her parents, felt an uneasy curiosity building inside her. "Mother, are you allright?" she asked.

Lady Kyria nodded and gently rested a hand on Serena's shoulder. "I'm perfectly fine," she said, her voice softening. "But it may be best to keep our focus on Elyas's incredible performance today. I think you've earned some well-deserved rest, haven't you, my son?" she said, turning to him warmly, changing the subjecto.
