X men one shots and Preferences

I walk amongst the street looking around. Is this what I truly want, to give up my ways to try to have a family. I fiddle with the ring I made for her. Will this even work out?

Before I make it to her home to talk to her, I turn around. Why am I so nervous? Master of magnesium! Fearless of anything! But yet terrified of being rejected.

"Erik?" Her vice calls to me. I turn to see her. Her eyes look at me with wonder and care. "You ok? I saw you out my window and you turned around?"

I walk to her and grave her hand and fall to my knees. She falls after me. "Erik you ok? What are you doing?" She said laughing.

"Let's go to the Park and look at the stars." I say she just nods and fallows me.

We lay down in the grass near the lake. She lays her head on my chest and this is when I make my decision.

I want this. I want a family. I want what my family had before every thing went wrong. I want her.

I use my power to slip the ring on her finger and ask "will you marry me?"

She looks at me with tears in her eyes, and I think it is a no. Why did I ask her. I know after every thing I would never be happy.

But before I register that she said yes I felt a kiss on my cheek and relaxed.

"Of course I will Marry you." She said in a whisper and yet powerful way.

I know now it is worth it to hang up my cape and retire.
