Jaiyana

Three Weeks, Four Days Later

Tuesday Afternoon

I smile widely as I wave at the sight of Alex. He smiles widely as he approaches.

"Hey beautiful," Alex said while getting close to me. He holds out his arms and I accept his embrace and he holds me tight and spins me around. I laugh a bit as he sets me down and kisses my cheek.

"I missed you," Alex said.

"I missed you too," I said. I kiss his cheek and then grab his hand.

"Are you ready to go in?," I asked.

"Yes I'm starving," Alex said. I nod my head and we walk into the small, but popular restaurant. This used to be one of my favorite spots before I moved. We walk to the door and Alex opens it for us and we both walk in. We are seated in a corner booth and given our menus to look over.

"Thanks for meeting me for lunch," I said.

"Thank you for inviting me. I'd love to spend time with you any moment I can," Alex said while winking. I smile and he holds out his hand on the table and I grab it and hold it tightly. My eyes travel over his appearance and I can't help but to smile. He is so handsome. We have been seeing each other quite often these past few weeks. I have really enjoyed our time. Alex is incredibly sweet and kind. He's such a gentleman and I always feel so comfortable with him. After about 10 minutes we are sipping on the drinks we ordered as we continue to look over the menu.

"What looks good to you Yana?," Alex asked.

"I love their summer berry salad with chicken, I'll probably get that. You?," I asked.

"I think the cornmeal crusted cornmeal sounds great," Alex said.

"Mmm yeah that's a good dish. Would you like to split the spicy chicken and cheese dip?," I asked. Alex looks over the item and then smiles and looks at me.

"That sounds perfect," Alex said. I nod my head and take another sip of my drink. I look around the crowded restaurant before my eyes travel towards the door. I just...have this strange feeling.

"How's your morning at work been so far?," Alex asked.

"It's been busy," I said while sighing.

"But you love busy," Alex said while laughing a bit.

"You're right I do. It's just for some reason I am feeling overwhelmed with this job," I admitted.

"Jaiyana...you know what you are doing. You just need a bit of time to adjust to this new role that's all. I know how skilled and talented you are. And you love what you do. That's rare also to have passion for the job you go in every day for."

"Aww you're so sweet Alex thank you. You're right...I just need to get used to everyone I work with and then I'll be ok." Alex smiles and leans our hands towards his lips and kisses my hand. I can't help but to blush. I look around and my heart drops to my stomach when I see Camden....and Cairo. Cairo...is just glaring at me. He is glaring at me so hard. I see Camden talking to him, but Cairo is not even paying attention.

"Oh god," I said lowly.

"What's wrong?," Alex asked in confusion.

"...My ex is here," I said wearily while looking at Alex.

"He is? Do you want to leave?," Alex offered.

"No...do you?," I asked.

"No....we have a right to be here," Alex said. I look back at Cairo and he is still staring. He begins to walk towards me, and I see Camden literally get in front of him to stop him. Cairo looks past Camden and right at me. He narrows his eyes and clenches his jaw. Oh shit. I hate that shit turns me on. It always has. Fuck. Camden looks back at me with a sympathetic look before Cairo turns on his heels and disappears out the door, with Camden on his heels. I let out the breath I was holding as I shake my head.
