Late Night Talk
(REQUEST!)
For No One In Specific___

Will's Point Of View

I wake up to the familiar sound of the ringtone I specifically set for (Y/N).
(Y/N) once told me about her problem with sleeping and that some nights she would be restless and she would wake up way too early, wanting to talk to someone about anything and everything.
She would normally talk about recent problems going on in her life or simply ask about me, which I was fine with.
She started talking to me at night and it became a regular thing for us. I set a specific ringtone for her so that I know to wake up because she needed me to listen to her.
After a few years of living in the same neighborhood with her, I had moved and we never really talked much again. So, that's why the phone call startled me.
"Hello?" I say.
"(Y/N)?"
"Will?" I hear her voice say through the phone.
Almost immediately, my entire body relaxes. It felt so nice to hear her say my name again.
I sit up and lean my back against the back board of the bed.
"Hey, how have you been?" I ask.
I hear her breathe a steady rhythm before she speaks.
"I've been better." She says.
When she said that, her voice cracked and I knew she was about to cry.
"Whats wrong?" I ask.
I listen to her soft cries as she lets them out.
"I just," she began, but she cried more.
"What is it, (Y/N)?" I ask in a caring voice.
"Are you alright?"
"I just really miss you, Will." She says.
I am almost at loss for words.
"I miss you too (Y/N), and I mean a lot, but, is that the only reason you called?" I ask, only realizing later that it sounded rude.
She sniffles and it sounds like her crying has died down a bit.
"Yeah, it is. I just really miss you." She says.
I must admit it felt really nice to hear her say that. It really did.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry for calling you just to tell you that, I feel so bad, I'm s-"
"No, no, its alright, I've actually needed to tell you that I've missed you too. And it feels nice hearing from you again." I say.
"Its been a while."
There's a short silence, a comfortable silence.
"I'm sorry, I tried calling you a while back a few times but you never answered." She says.
I rub the back of my head.
"I must have had my phone off when you called, I'm sorry." I say. I should have known that we couldn't have just stopped talking, I should have known she would call me.
I think about what she would call me for before this call, but I then wondered if it was just to tell me she missed me like she's telling me now.
"I'm sorry if you needed me and I never answered." I say.
"Its fine, really, it is." She says.
"As long as I hear your voice at least once a month I'll be fine."
I smile at her words. It felt nice knowing that she loved to talk to me, and in all honesty the feeling is mutual.
There's another silence.
I sigh.
"God, if I'm honest, its so good to hear from you again. You have no idea how much I wanted to hear from you but never had the guts to call you first." I say as I feel myself shake.
I didn't intend on saying that to her, but I did anyway.
She doesn't say anything and I immediately regret saying that. "I just made things awkward, didn't I?" I ask as I rubbed my arm and laughed slightly.
She doesn't say anything, again. That's when I hear her start to cry again.
"If I'm honest," she says.
"I found your picture today, and I just called to say I want you to come back home." She says.
I start to get tears in my eyes as I remembered the way she looked at me and the way she told me I was her rock.
"I guess I just called to say, I love you." She says.
I smile and look around my room.
"I love you too." I say, and mean it.
Another silence passes by us and I listen to her cry a little more, making me shed a few tears.
"Come back home." She says, her voice cracking, making me miss her and making me feel bad for leaving.
"Soon." Was all I could think about saying.
And as if she knew what I wanted to hear again, she said another, "I love you."
