The first thing that greeted me when I entered the white and gold themed dinner room, was the amazing aroma of the jollof rice already served on white ceramic plates with cutlery position at both the left and right side.

Grandma was the first to acknowledge my presence as she sat facing the entrance of the dining room. The small smile that made it's way to her lips also found a way to mine as I stared at her.

All other unwanted attention from the rest of the family found it's way to me, Grandma dressed in a purple dress with silver stone laced all over it , tapped on the chair next to her at the very end.

I nodded, walking towards the chair quite sure if the glares thrown at me, especially from Jade and her mum. The annoying twins and their mother were not left out, but fuck them all, I also hated them too.

The light  brown chair with Golden edges, made a noise as I pushed it backwards lowering my self on it.

I haven't even settled on the chair properly before twins mum voice was heard." Seems like the lost princess has decided to grace us with her presence." She muttered to all our hearing.

Ignore her.

My subconsciousness told me and I obliged not saying anything as one of the maid served me my food.

Seeing as I didn't answer her probably made her angry as she dropped her fork on the table making a loud sound.

"I bet they didn't teach you manners in the slum where you come from, but here, when you see and elder you greet!" The way she said the greet held so much hate.

I ignored her again and she scoffed loudly, from my rear view I could see her husband nudging her shoulder.

"I believe you're not deaf." She said this time earning a loud sigh from me as I dropped my fork on the table.

And now they will start asking me why I ate In my room.

Slowly I turned to her direction." They might not have taught me how to greet elders where am from but at least they taught me how to keep shut when eating so I don't end up embarrassing my self like the 'elders' that want me to greet them so badly." I air quoted the elders and I could feel the eyes of everyone on me as I said this.

The twins mum scoffed before turning to grandma who had a blank expression on her face as she ate her food. " Mother, are you just going to sit there and let this thing insult me?

"Well this thing is my granddaughter and  she has the same place in this house just like all the kids here and as for what she said, you deserve it for being childish." Grandma said earning my total respect.

Then, she turned to me." And you, mind the way you speak to your elders. You're now a Lawani, so leave all those attitude on the street where they belong. Is that clear?" She asked, with a very strict voice.

Then just send me back.

"I said, is that clear?"
