The weekend drifted by with a surprising calmness. Lando was caught up in team obligations and media sessions, which left Lana free to explore her surroundings—or at least as free as she could be with all eyes still on her. She was gradually finding her rhythm, learning to skip Ferrari's hospitality and head straight to McLaren's. Still, she couldn't shake her loyalty; every time a red car flew by on track, her heart pulled her back to Ferrari.
Qualifying had been a thrill. Against the odds, Lando clinched pole, securing the top spot with a flawless lap that left the crowd buzzing. Lana, genuinely proud and pleasantly surprised, couldn't help herself from teasing him as they left the paddock together.
"Pole position, huh?" she said, nudging him with her elbow. "Guess McLaren decided to show up today."
Lando rolled his eyes playfully, smirking. "Oh, we're here, alright. Now I just have to keep those Ferraris in my rearview tomorrow."
Later that evening, with Tokyo's neon lights painting the streets in a kaleidoscope of colors, Lana and Lando ventured to Shibuya Crossing. The vibrant energy of the city pulsed around them, hundreds of people weaving through the famous intersection. Lana found herself swept up in the magic of it all, and without thinking, she took out her phone, aiming the camera at Lando as he scanned the crowd, his gaze landing on her with a hint of mischief.
He noticed her snapping a photo and grinned, lifting his camera up to take a shot. "You're not the only one with a camera, you know," he teased, snapping a candid shot of her in return. The two shared a laugh, each trying to capture the other in the flood of Tokyo's lights and energy.
As they reached the other side, Lana found herself wondering at the strange familiarity that was building between them. It was starting to feel...natural, easy even, like something more than a publicity stunt. But she quickly brushed the thought away, snapping one last candid photo as Lando looked out over the bustling crowd, illuminated by the warm glow of the crossing's lights.
When they got back to the hotel, Lana headed straight to the bathroom, eager to get through her nightly routine and settle in. Halfway through brushing her teeth, her phone buzzed with a notification. She glanced down, eyes widening as she realized she'd been tagged in a post... by Lando.
Heart pounding, she snatched up her phone, practically fumbling in her haste. When the screen loaded, she was met with the photos he'd shared from their time out in town. There was something so genuine and normal in the photos of them—laughing together, sharing a moment in the bustling lights of Tokyo. And to her surprise, she felt her cheeks flush at the sight.
