With Lana out at a meeting, Lando found himself wandering aimlessly through his apartment. He didn't have anything pressing to do, so he simply let his feet carry him from room to room, admiring the little changes that had come with Lana moving in.
There were fresh flowers on the kitchen counter—vivid reds, yellows, and oranges, their scent subtly filling the air. He found himself smiling at the sight. He wandered further, noticing the neatly made bed, the way the pillows were fluffed just right, the blanket folded perfectly at the end of the bed. It was such a small thing, but somehow, it made his place feel like a home rather than just a space he occupied.
Lando moved on to the fridge, opening it out of sheer habit, and there they were—homemade juices lined up in glass bottles, with neat labels in Lana's handwriting. He grabbed one, smiling as he twisted off the cap and took a sip. Fresh, tangy, and undeniably better than anything store-bought.
Standing there, with the cool juice in his hand, Lando let his thoughts drift. He realized how much lighter everything had felt lately. He thought back to that night in Japan, when everything between them had changed. When he had opened up to her, let her in past the facade he so often put up for others. Since that moment—and especially since she moved in—something within him had shifted. He felt freer, like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.
He set the juice down and made his way over to the couch, sinking into the cushions. He pulled out his phone, scrolling mindlessly for a moment before an idea struck him. He opened his photo gallery and found himself searching for the pictures he'd taken of Lana. There were quite a few—small, candid moments that he had captured without her even knowing sometimes. He scrolled through, each photo pulling a different kind of warmth in his chest.
One of her smiling at the camera, her eyes bright with laughter. Another of her at a vanity, her hair in curlers, wearing a white set that made her look effortlessly elegant. There was a shot of the two of them, taken in a mirror, her hanging over his shoulder. And another of her sitting at a desk, dressed in her favorite red boots and jeans, deep in thought. There was one from the plane, her eyes gleaming as she held up a glass of champagne, and a final one of her standing in front of the glass wall of his apartment, her arms stretched up, the water sparkling in the distance beyond her.
Lando paused for a moment, his thumb hovering over the screen. Then, with a smile, he selected a handful of the photos, opening Instagram and adding them to a new post. He looked at the caption field, thinking for a moment before typing:
"Life lately through my eyes."
He hit post, setting his phone down with a sigh. It felt right—like he was sharing something real, something honest. And it wasn't just about the photos. It was about the way Lana had slowly but surely become a part of his life, in a way he hadn't expected, in a way that felt good.
Leaning back on the couch, he closed his eyes for a moment, letting the contentment settle in his chest.
