Season Of The Witch By Lana Del Rey
The week had been a whirlwind for everyone. Lana had finally gotten some time to do a modeling gig, something she genuinely missed since starting this whole Speedy Stars venture. Even better, Theo had been part of the same shoot. It was like old times—goofing around, exchanging jokes, and working seamlessly together. The energy felt nostalgic and refreshing, and Lana couldn't stop smiling all day. The memories kept her spirits high even as the week began to get busier in preparation for Austin.
Now, with bags packed and the promise of Texas on the horizon, Lana, Lando, and Max made their way to the airport. Lando had given Max a look that implied he was already regretting offering to share the ride—Max was treating the car like his personal karaoke studio, belting out a mix of old pop songs with zero shame.
As they navigated their way through the streets of Monaco, Lando stole a glance at Lana, who was in the back seat, watching Max with amusement. He cleared his throat and, when she looked up, asked, "So, how was the shoot? You got back so late last night, I didn't get a chance to ask."
Lana's face lit up. "Oh, it was amazing. I got to work with Theo again! You know how much fun it is when we're together."
There was a subtle shift in Lando's expression, his smile not quite reaching his eyes. He kept his gaze forward, his hands tightening slightly on the steering wheel. "Theo, huh?" He said, trying to sound nonchalant but failing to hide the hint of hostility in his voice.
Lana nodded enthusiastically, unaware of the undercurrent. "Yeah, he was there. We were reminiscing about when we first started—there's something so comfortable about working with him. It makes the whole experience way more enjoyable."
"Mmhmm," Lando murmured, a hint of a frown creasing his forehead. "Sounds like you had a great time."
Lana, picking up on the slight tone change, looked up. "You okay?" she asked, a bit confused.
Lando forced a small smile. "Yeah, all good. Just making sure everything went... smoothly," he said, his tone a bit sharper than usual.
Lana's gaze remained on Lando for a few more moments, trying to decipher his reaction.
Soon enough, they arrived at the airport. The bustling activity of travelers, the whir of rolling suitcases, and excited chatter filled the air. Nat and Theo were supposed to meet them at the gate, and Lana was about to suggest they hurry when Lando's attention snapped to something—or someone—else.
A girl stood near the entrance, waving at Lando, her face a mix of familiarity and hope. Lana saw Lando's jaw tighten, his eyes widen with what looked like panic before he turned to the group.
"Uh, give me a second, you two go on," he muttered quickly before excusing himself from Lana and Max, who exchanged confused glances but made their way inside as Lando made his way over to the girl.
The girl, with an expectant smile, raised her hand in greeting. "Hey! I thought I'd—"
Lando cut her off, his voice low and tense. "What are you doing here?"
The girl's smile faltered slightly. "I'm coming with you. I thought—"
Lando interrupted, his eyes narrowing. "No, you're not. In case you've forgotten, we're not dating anymore. Not to mention, I'm supposed to be with Lana in public. You can't just show up like this."
The girl huffed, her eyes flashing in irritation. "Well, that didn't seem to bother you when you two first started 'dating'," she retorted, using air quotes around the word.
Lando took a deep breath, trying to keep his composure. "Look, I don't know what you thought this was, but you can't be here. Go home. I don't want you here." His voice was firm, his eyes cold, as he took a step back, indicating that he was done with the conversation.
