With Marquez's words echoing in his mind and his mother's tearful plea haunting him, Teddy knew he had to face the families of the men he'd killed. It was the only way, even if the thought made his skin crawl. That evening, he made his way through the district, feeling the shadows press in around him, whispering his every sin, his every regret.

The first door he knocked on was Slim's mother's. When the door opened, he saw her, frail and grieving, and he felt like he might collapse under the weight of his guilt. She looked at him, eyes hollow with sorrow, and something inside him broke.

"I'm... I'm sorry," he said, his voice shaking. "I know nothing can make it right, but I just... I wanted you to know."

Her expression softened, and though she said nothing, she nodded, her face crumpling as she closed the door. Teddy stood there, the silence pressing in around him, and for the first time, he felt the ghosts quiet. Just a little.

One by one, he sought out the families. With each apology, each heartbroken mother and sister and father, the weight in his chest lifted slightly. But the whispers still lingered, the voice of his uncle murmuring darkly.
