The next morning, the two woke to the sound of rain pounding against the roof. Teddy looked over to see Kane already awake, staring at the wall, lost in thought.

"We need supplies," Kane muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. "Clothes, food, maybe a weapon or two. It's risky, but we can't go on without 'em."

They left the safehouse together, blending into the shadows of the streets, heads down, avoiding eye contact with anyone passing by. They found a nearby market, slipping in quietly. Kane grabbed some clothes while Teddy picked out food that wouldn't spoil quickly, cramming everything into a bag they'd swiped.

As they moved through the crowd, Teddy noticed a young boy eyeing them suspiciously. The boy's gaze lingered on their faces, recognition flickering in his eyes. Fear gripped Teddy—he knew the look. Kane noticed it too, his grip tightening on Teddy's arm as he muttered, "Let's go. Now."

They made their way back to the safehouse in tense silence. Once inside, Kane turned to Teddy, his face set in a grim line. "We can't stay here. That kid saw us—word's gonna spread. We need to be smarter."

The paranoia began to seep in, the fear of being recognized or betrayed. Kane's words echoed in Teddy's mind. Be smarter. He realized that, just like back in prison, he couldn't let his guard down, not for a second.

As night fell, they started to map out new routes, places where they could lay low and stay one step ahead. But as they planned, Teddy's mind wandered back to the prison, to his mother and her betrayal. It wasn't enough to stay free. He had to clear his name, make people see the truth about her and what she had done.
