The air was crisp as dawn broke over the horizon, casting a soft golden glow over the world. For the first time in a long time, Teddy felt a sense of peace—a quiet kind of hope that he hadn't known was possible. The battle, the demons, the darkness—they were all behind him now. The sun, rising gently over the city, seemed to promise a new beginning for everyone.

Teddy stood by the window, his eyes gazing out at the skyline, but his mind was elsewhere. He could still feel the weight of his mother's hand on his shoulder, her warmth a constant reminder of how far they'd come. She had changed, not because she had been forced to, but because she had finally found the strength to face herself. To embrace love, not fear.

She had apologized. She had broken down in front of him, confessing the years of pain and regret. It hadn't been easy, but they had taken the first steps together toward healing. They were both different people now—no longer shackled by their pasts, no longer haunted by the demons that had once controlled them.

The door behind him creaked open, and he turned to see his mother standing there, a soft smile on her lips. The same woman who had once been lost to the shadows was now bathed in the light of a new chance.

"Teddy," she said softly. "I never thought I'd get to say this, but... thank you."

He smiled, his heart swelling with a warmth he hadn't felt in years. "It's not too late, Mom. We have time. We can make things right. Together."

And then, there was a knock at the door.

Teddy's heart skipped a beat as he walked over to open it. Standing in the doorway was Kane, his face tired but relieved, his eyes shining with the same quiet joy that Teddy felt.

"I thought I'd find you here," Kane said, his voice steady but thick with emotion. Without saying another word, Kane stepped forward, pulling Teddy into a tight hug.

For a moment, the weight of everything—of the pain, the fear, the battles—melted away. It was just them, standing together in the light of a new day.

"You're family now," Kane murmured, his voice hoarse. "You've always been."

Teddy smiled through the lump in his throat. "And so are you. We're not running from anything anymore. We're not alone."

Kane stepped back, wiping his eyes, a rare vulnerability showing through his tough exterior. "I... I think I need to go home. My parents—they don't know what happened. They're waiting for me."

Teddy nodded, understanding the weight behind Kane's words. The journey they had all been on had changed them, but it hadn't taken away their need for family—the people who had loved them before the chaos, before the darkness.

"I'll be okay, Kane," Teddy said. "You go. You deserve to be with them. But don't forget about us, alright?"

Kane chuckled softly. "I won't. You know where to find me."

With that, Kane turned and left, disappearing into the streets, toward a home that had waited far too long for him.
