Two days passed, each one spent moving from one hiding spot to another, the city's shadows becoming their sanctuary. They'd managed to stay off the radar, but the tension was building. Every person they passed felt like a potential threat, every sound like the approach of the authorities.

Kane seemed to sense Teddy's unease. One evening, as they huddled under a bridge to avoid the rain, he spoke up. "You're still thinking about your mother, aren't you?"

Teddy looked at him, surprised. "How'd you know?"

Kane shrugged, a flicker of understanding in his eyes. "I know that look. That need for justice, for revenge. I've had it for years. But trust me... sometimes, the past is a weight that'll sink you if you don't let it go."

Teddy clenched his fists, anger flaring within him. "I can't just let it go, Kane. She lied to me, used me. My uncle's dead because of her, and I'm rotting in a prison cell in the world's eyes."

Kane looked away, his jaw tight. "Then we're not running anymore. We're fighting back."

They spent the next few days planning, using what little information they had to track down people connected to his mother. If they could gather evidence, witnesses, anything to expose her crimes, they could finally clear Teddy's name.

One night, as they followed a lead to an abandoned warehouse, they were confronted by a shadowy figure—someone from Teddy's past who had worked closely with his mother. The man's face twisted into a smirk. "You've got guts coming back here, Teddy."

Teddy's heart pounded, but he held his ground. "I want answers. I know what she did."

The man's smirk faded, replaced by a wary look. He glanced around, as if checking for listeners, before leaning in. "You don't know half of it. You think she betrayed you? She's got bigger plans—this whole district's her playground, and you were just a pawn."

A chill ran down Teddy's spine as he realized the depth of his mother's betrayal went far beyond anything he'd imagined. His fists tightened, and for the first time, he felt a surge of determination stronger than his rage.

"We're gonna bring her down," he murmured to Kane, who gave a nod of grim agreement.

As they walked away, Teddy knew that he wasn't just fighting for his freedom anymore. He was fighting to reclaim the life his mother had stolen from him, to destroy the empire she had built on lies, manipulation, and blood. And he was ready for whatever came next.
