Teddy's rage was all-consuming. His fists slammed into the goons that surrounded him, each strike fueled by the memories of his uncle's brutal death, his mother's betrayal, and the years of pain she had caused. The room around him had become a blur of fists and bodies. His mind was no longer focused on strategy; it was only about punishing her for everything she had done. His movements were desperate, wild. There was no room for hesitation, no place for mercy.
But with every punch, his vision blurred. The world around him seemed to distort as his anger grew stronger, the air thick with the scent of blood and sweat. Teddy barely noticed the sharp pain in his side as one of the goons landed a blow. He didn't feel the world spinning out of control until it was too late.
A heavy hand grabbed his collar and yanked him back. Before Teddy could react, the world around him tilted, and the floor came rushing up to meet him. He felt his head slam against the marble, the impact sending a shockwave through his skull. Everything went dark.
The Dream
Teddy woke, but it wasn't the same. He wasn't in the chaos of his mother's mansion anymore. The sounds of battle and shouts had faded into an eerie silence. Slowly, he opened his eyes, finding himself in a strange place. It was a quiet, empty room, but it was warm—a stark contrast to the cold tension he had just left behind. The walls were made of old wood, and a soft, golden light filtered in through a single window.
Confused, he stood, his legs unsteady beneath him. He took a few cautious steps, trying to make sense of the world around him. And then, as if the universe had decided to answer his unspoken questions, a figure emerged from the shadows.
It was his uncle.
"Uncle!" Teddy gasped, his voice hoarse from the chaos of his last moments. "What's going on? Why am I here?"
His uncle stood there, looking as strong and vibrant as Teddy remembered—his eyes kind, but filled with an understanding that Teddy could never quite place. The man's face, once weathered with age and pain, was now soft, a peace that had eluded him when he was alive. He stepped forward, placing a hand on Teddy's shoulder.
"You're not really here," his uncle said, his voice calm but powerful, a quiet strength in every word. "You've been knocked out, Teddy. What you're seeing is a dream. A place where you can hear me."
Teddy blinked, trying to process the words. "A dream? But... I was fighting. I was so angry. I had to stop her. She killed you, Uncle! I had to make her pay. I can't let this go."
His uncle's expression softened, and he gently shook his head. "No, Teddy. You don't have to carry this burden of vengeance. It's consuming you, making you think this is the only way. But it's not. Anger is a poison. It blinds you."
Teddy's chest tightened, his heart pounding in his ears. "I need to do this. I need to make her feel the same pain I feel. She took you from me. She ruined everything."
The room seemed to darken for a moment, the golden light fading, replaced by shadows that crept along the walls. Teddy's uncle looked down at him, his face full of sorrow but also compassion.
"Your mother... she's lost, Teddy. But so are you," he said softly. "The rage you carry is only going to lead you further into darkness. It will not bring you peace. It will only destroy you. Your real fight... your real battle... is not with her. It's within yourself. It's about finding the strength to let go."
Teddy stared at him, the words sinking in like a heavy weight in his chest. The dream world around him shifted again, this time the shadows dissolving into light. He could feel the warmth of the room on his skin, a sense of calm flooding through him. He felt a quiet hope he hadn't felt in years.
His uncle stepped closer, his hand resting gently on Teddy's chest.
"Revenge will only make you a slave to your pain. But love? Love will set you free. You'll never change the past, but you can choose how to live with it."
Teddy's throat tightened. The anger that had been consuming him began to feel like a distant memory, slipping away as his uncle's words echoed in his mind. He had spent so much time wanting to hurt her, wanting to make her pay. But now, he realized that he had been fighting for the wrong reasons. His uncle's death, his anger... it wasn't the answer. The answer was something deeper, something he had been avoiding for far too long.
Tears welled in his eyes as he looked up at the man who had been his mentor, his father figure. "But how do I let go? How do I move forward?"
His uncle smiled, his eyes filled with love. "You forgive, Teddy. You forgive because that's the only way to heal. It's not easy. It never will be. But it's the only path to freedom."
Teddy nodded slowly, the weight in his chest lightening, as though something was finally making sense. He wasn't just fighting for revenge anymore. He was fighting for himself—for his future.
"You'll be alright, Teddy. You're stronger than you know. Now, wake up. Your journey's not over yet."
Teddy reached out to his uncle, but the world around him began to blur. The soft light was dimming, the warmth fading. And then, just as suddenly as it had all begun, the dream world slipped away.
The Awakening
Teddy's eyes snapped open. His body was sore, his head throbbing with the remnants of the blow he had taken. He was back in the mansion, surrounded by the cold reality of his fight. But this time, something had changed inside him. The anger that had driven him was still there, but it no longer consumed him. It was as if his uncle's words had planted a seed deep in his soul—a seed that was slowly beginning to grow.
He wasn't done yet, but he wasn't the same. Teddy pushed himself to his feet, his hands shaking as he wiped the blood from his lips. He could still hear the sounds of battle around him, but they seemed distant now. He looked around, searching for his mother, but what he felt inside was different.
He wasn't fighting for revenge anymore. He was fighting for his own redemption.
His uncle had shown him the way. Now, he had to follow it.
