We reach his dorm room. He unlocks the door and holds it open for me as I enter.
"So... how is your injury now anyways?"
"It's just healing. The stitching should fall off in a couple days."
"Monokuma wouldn't let anyone enter the infirmary since the last time I saw you. Did you set that up?"
"No? I didn't know about that."
He wanted to see me again? That sounds... cute?
"Well.. were you fed?"
"Yes, I was. I'm sorry but what's going on with all these questions? I thought you needed something."
"Can't I just check on my bodyguard? I've got to make sure she wasn't starved, tortured or bored during her time in the infirmary."
"Why would you check if I was bored?"
"Because I wanted to use a rule of three and couldn't think of a third valid reason. Don't read too much into it."
Monokuma pops out between us two.
"PUHUHU! Hey yall! Hey...? Why do I look so short between you guys standing it's ridiculous?! And I wont even mention me in comparison to him. Anyways-!"
Byakuya scoff and rolls his eyes while crossing his arms. I on the other hand, chuckle.
"Anyways, just for you [y/n] I closed off access to the infirmary for your personal comfort and safety. One, we cannot have you at risk of potential murder due to your vulnerable state, second, we wouldn't want anyone to take advantage of your vulnerable to tease, argue with or anger you and finally, so you could get peace and quiet."
Is he referring to... the discussion I had with Togami about Celestia?
"Tally ho gang!"
And with that he disappears. Monokuma's quite the handy of a context box isn't he? I didn't know he would go out of his way to set a new rule without my permission too. But I suppose I can appreciate his good intentions.
"Even though you and that twisted bear are insane, it's somewhat... sweet that a non sentient being went out of its way to accommodate your thoughts and feelings. You must be extremely smart to have programmed that. The bear is like your own personal butler, minus the need of pay and fair rights."
"I'm not getting you one if that's what you're hinting at."
He rolls his eyes.
"... How was your time in the infirmary anyways? If Monokuma cared enough about your privacy surely he accommodated for your loneliness."
"That he did not think of. It was very, very, very boring in there."
"Monokuma? Boring?"
"He wasn't there the whole time."
"Ah that explains it."
"What did you do for all that time without me? From what it sounds like you too must've been pretty bored if apparently you've been constantly wanting to visit poor old me."
"Don't say constantly as if I were obsessed. I only came twice after I found out I would never have entry. But nonetheless I was bored and your absence was forcibly replaced temporarily by a certain clingy writer. God, she was more irritating as ever. She was inquiring about little tid bits about you so she could act as a better replacement it was annoying. Because instead of having to deal with you, which is annoying enough, I had to deal with you times 10."
So he was answering her questions? How much did he manage to say about me? I didn't think he paid that much attention.
"Also Hagakure kept trying to break through the barrier at the bar to get to the beer. He kept flinging glasses through it to see if it would part or break like how you pass through glasses. How does that even work though?"
"Trust me when I say I really don't know."
He chuckles.
"How long until you think you'll be completely better?"
"About... two ish days I think? Why? Are you really that concerned about me?"
"No don't be absurd. I've just been thinking about something the past few days."
"About what?"
"Sit. Sit down."
He ushers me to sit down on his bed. He goes over to his door and opens it to see if anyone is outside.
"Are these rooms soundproof?"
"Yes."
He shuts the door and returns to me, sitting on a chair opposite his bed and facing me.
"I would... greatly appreciate your help with something."
"You? You want help?"
"I want you to hear me out. Hear me out fully with no interruptions and no judgment. Can you do that for me?"
"What is it?"
"I would like your help, to rid the pest that is Toko Fukawa."
That was certainly not what I was expecting.
"She is a nuisance to me and a danger to you. Nobody would suspect the girl who just underwent surgery from the last murder to be the next. You get away with it and the game ends. I know how much you loathe this game yet you are too prideful to admit failure and end it upfront, at least now, this late into it. You have access to everything. Every room, all clothing, everything. Besides, I have no faith that the remaining students will have the guts to murder, they'd probably choose to wait it out until their precious police come. So this will move the game forward."
"Why won't you just do it yourself?"
"Because I refuse to get my hands dirty. And I know you have to let me live post game otherwise in the trial I will reveal your identity and you will die. So if you do this for me, I will help you come up with a plan to get away with the murder, as long as you don't let me die with them. I also know if I did this myself there is a chance you will betray me and sell me out in order to not risk your own death. So, would you do this for me? It's a win win."
"I want to hear your plan, then I'll consider it."
"You have the keys to every dorm room and room in the school correct?"
"Yes, yes I do."
"When it's night, enter her room. Shut the door so the room is soundproofed. Use your switchblade since I'm confident you carry it around with you everywhere. I don't want to plan an alternative weapon because you'll possibly forget it and also any missing weapons can be used as evidence for the precise murder weapon. If I'm correct, the switchblade is your own and therefore should not be documented as a missing weapon from anywhere in the school. Kill her in her sleep and flee. It should be that easy. No evidence will be lost and you'll have a perfect alibi, limp around the school as long as you can, wear the bandage as long as you can and give everyone the impression you still aren't able bodied."
I look down at the floor, thinking.
"I want to discuss this further, but not now. But I'll say... I ,for now,.... am in. But that is subject to change. I believe your plan is well thought through."
He has a sinister smile on his face.
"Thank you so much for agreeing to help me, Bartender, it would make our lives so much easier."
