{Y/N}'s POV

I awake from my bed. I'm not quite sure what time it is, but I see Byakuya's gone so it's probably quite late into the day. As soon as I sit up and turn to sit at the edge of the bed Monokuma pops up in front of me. I jump as he can really give a spook.

"What do you want now bear?"

"Goood morning! Or shall I say afternoon! It's another beeeyutiful day!"

"Why are you saying the morning announcement? You're acting strange."

"How can I be acting strange if I'm a robot?"

"You're partly AI, I wouldn't be surprised if one day you went haywire."

"{Y/N} I can assure you I've been programmed well enough not to go haywire."

"Whatever, what are you here for?"

"To inform you it's the afternoon?"

"Helpful."

I dismiss the bear with a wave of my hand. I stand up and look in the mirror. I fell asleep in my regular clothes eugh. I go to the wardrobe and pick out my attire and change into it. Once I lace up my boots I leave my dorm and head to the cafeteria. But I pause and look down at myself. Shit, I forgot the bandages! I reenter my dorm room.

"Forgot something?" says the damn bear, holding a roll of bandages in its paw.

"Yes." I grab the roll of him, sit back down on the edge of the bed, and wrap the bandage around my torso.

"See I can be useful!"

"Yes whatever Monokuma."

While I continue to wrap Monokuma chimes in.

"So are you going to kill Toko Fukawa?"

I pause and look up at the bear in mild confusion, furrowing my brow.

"You aren't supposed to be curious. Why are you asking such questions?"

"Because {Y/N} you aren't supposed to meddle in the game, it'll only end badly."

"It'll be fine. I have it easier than everyone else."

"{Y/N} why are you doing this for him?"

I pause.

"Because I want out of course."

But that's not the only reason. I suppose I just want to prove myself. I think I'm pretty pathetic for a murder mastermind. And it makes me feel even shittier that someone actually does know I am the shit mastermind. If I can follow this plan, it'll show my competency as well as finally allowing my some involvement in the game I've distanced myself from.

"I know that's not all {Y/N}. You can't fool me."

"It doesn't matter. I don't have to tell you anything."

"Whateverr!"

I stand back up again.

"Are we done here Monokuma?"

I turn around and he's gone. I leave my dorm room and limp to the cafeteria. It's quite empty in there. It's just Aoi and Sakura sat in a corner talking. I peer over at them, Aoi smiles as she usually does but I've never spoken a word to her.

I disappear into the bar only to see Byakuya sat on the stool, resting his arms against the bar and reading.

I walk behind the bar and he looks up at me.

"Hey."

He doesn't respond, only gives me a blank look then looks back down to read his book.

"I said hey!"

"I'm reading, you should know better than to disturb me while reading."

I cross my arms and frown at him. He pays no attention to my expression and continues reading before folding the corner of his page to presumably a new chapter.

"If you had to lock us in here you should've at least had the decency to leave around some bookmarks. It feels insulting to disrespect such literature."

"Sorry."

There's an awkward silence, but not just for me, he clearly looks affected by the silence too.

"Have you thought about when to do the... the plan?"

He sounds quiet when saying that, and awkward too. I've never heard him so quiet before.

"Tomorrow night. I... want to get it over with. Which means you'll soon have to prepare to part with this place."

"Yes. I suppose so. It's bittersweet. But I'll return home."

I nod in silence. I don't quite know what to do when I'm free. I don't remember what I did beforehand. I don't remember the lead-up to the killing game either. I suppose that could be a good thing. I could choose a new life when I leave. But I feel attached to this school. I don't mind things staying the same sometimes. Remembering Celeste, hating everyone, and meeting Byakuya. Ew, it makes me feel like a sap or something. We're merely... friends? Acquaintances? I think he'd rather kill me than allow me to refer to him as a friend.

He looks down in silence.

"{Y/N} would you pour me a rose wine? I don't mind waiting on it if you make it look nice."

He sounds solemn as he speaks.

I nod again and prepare him the rose wine. He just watches me prepare it in silence, he looks like he's pondering something.

He looks down then rummages in his pocket. He pulls out a pack of wrapped playing cards and places them down at the bar.

"For you. From the gift shop."

I look at them as I pass the drink through the bar and take the cards.

"You remembered?"

I remember I necessarily didn't want them. But Celestia did and I don't know why he was bothered enough to get me a reminder of her. I appreciate the gesture nonetheless.

He sips on his rose wine in silence, refusing to make eye contact with me. Just sipping and sipping and sipping and

half the drink is gone.

"{Y/N} can we talk?"
