DING DONG BING BONG

"A body has been discovered! After a certain amount of time, which you may use however you like, the class trial will begin!"

I didn't manage to sleep well last night. I just laid on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. I sit up as I'm bored out of my mind pretending to be asleep.

I stand up and go to find my clothes in the wardrobe before wrapping the bandage around my torso. I'm surprised somebody found her body this quick honestly.

Just as I approach the door I hear frantic knocking so I immediately open the door to be greeted by an angry Byakuya. He pushes himself into the room and slams the door shut.

"I thought the 'Great Illustrious Mastermind' would be a much more intelligent planner!"

I of course had no clue what he was talking about but whatever it is it may be serious. But I don't want to take it seriously.

"Great and Illustrious? Wow, I'm flattered."

"Shut up I was being sarcastic, now, why did you leave the keys in the door?!"

"What keys in what door?"

"Are you trying to act daft bartender?!"

"Well I didn't leave any keys in my door otherwise you wouldn't have knoc- oh! SHIT! The keys to Toko's room!"

He smacks me lightly on the head.

"Look, there's no need to panic. It's not like anyone can collect fingerprints and they cannot trace the keys back to me."

"You're still an idiot."

I roll my eyes.

"So they're all investigating out there? Who even found the body first?"

"How do you not know? You have surveillance right in that room!"

He points, dumbfounded, at the camera room.

"Don't tell me you just got out of bed."

I give him a guilty smile. Yes I did lay in bed until now, what's the issue?

"So...? Who found the body first?"

"Well, I figured that since nobody cares about that soulless rat, nobody would really question her absence or check on her in her room. So I took it upon myself to 'see her' as it's commonly known that the pest is obsessed with me. It wouldn't be uncharacteristic or suspicious of me to find the body. Once I found it I called over Makoto who was with Asahina and that made three people discover the body."

"Oh, that's actually kinda smart."

"Yes, smarter than you."

"Shut up. Let's just get outta here. Might as well contribute to the investigation."

I wink as I approach the door. He sighs and follows behind me. Just as I walk out into the corridor, I notice groups of the remaining students congregating and discussing the murder. From what I manage to hear, there's a lot of confusion...

No knives missing..? But a stab wound? All toolkit equipment accounted for..? This case is clearly a puzzling one. I would know, because Byakuya planned it and he's fucking smart.

"There were keys in the door..." ponders Makoto.

"Perhaps the janitor let the murderer in!" he exclaims.

Janitor? The fuck? Does he think I could afford that? Idiot. What fucking janitor would work here?

"Makoto, respectfully, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard." said Kyoko from across the corridor.

"Well I looked at the bundle of keys and they were all the same, keys for Toko's room, last I checked, we only get one key each so surely some sort of moderator over the game allowed the killer access." explained Sakura (Who I completely forgot was alive mb)

Pfft moderator, what am I? A discord mod??

"Has anyone seen Monokuma, I have reason to agree with Sakura that potentially, someone who isn't a student that we are aware of committed this crime. And that is just simply unfair." added Kyoko.

"Puhuhu! Did someone call for me?"

The bear emerged out of nowhere as always, with his usual cheery aura.

"Yes, I did. You have to tell us the truth over if the blackened is a student because as the rules in the ebook state, 'anyone who kills a fellow student... etc'. This implies that the blackened can only be a student. However, with the limited evidence we have been able to gather, the verdict points to an unknown person. So unless you want to breach your own rules, who is the mastermind."

"Ooooh. Very demanding Miss Kirigiri, very well, your query is justified. I can confirm that the blackened is a student among you. I did warn them not to meddle but... there's your answer and Bob's your uncle. Now toodaloo!"

"Warn them not to meddle? What could that even mean?"

Yasuhiro, who looked like his mind was floating on another planet turned his focus to me.

"Hey! {Y/n}! It's nice to see you join us again!"

I've truthfully avoided him for so long I also forgot he existed. I suppose he hasn't seen me enough to have a bad impression of me like others do.

With that though, everyone turns to face me.

"{L/N} you didn't happen to know anything about Fukawa's death right?" inquired Kyoko.

"No not at all, the first I've heard was the body discovery announcement."

Kyoko nods then turns back to face everyone else.

"We have 22 hours to solve this near-impossible case, everyone split up and find anything you possibly can."

She glances down at my bandage.

"And {L/N}, if you're suitable for the job, we'd appreciate all hands on deck. This case may settle our fates."

She then strides down the corridor and leaves the group.

Tomorrow, my trial.
