"It...can't be... My...brother..."
Oh. So about a few hours have passed. Sorry, it's hard to pay attention to something I'm completely uninterested in. Turns out Toko has an odd case of DID and is also a manic murderer. But she didn't kill Chihiro. Shocker.
"What a disappointment. This is the end of the game?"
" B...Byakuya...?"
B-b-b Byakuya? Shut your goofy ass up Makoto.
" You're completely insane, you know that? A game? One of our friends is dead! Do you realize that!?"
"Of course I do. Because this game is life or death."
"I don't have anything to say to you. I don't have a response, except that...I just don't understand why. Why did you go out of your way to disguise Mondo's crime?"
"Isn't it obvious? Because it made things more interesting. Last night, when the murder took place, I was in the library as usual."
"So you ignored the nightttime rule, too..."
"That rule never mattered to me. I don't recall agreeing to it. And bartender over there didn't agree to it either."
Everyone in the courtroom turns to face me. Why the hell would he say that?? I've said nothing the whole trial and now he's bringing attention to me.
"Well, I don't particularly care. Please, continue."
" The night grew late, and I decided to return to my room. Which is when I stumbled upon him... I spotted Mondo coming out of the girls locker room. After he'd gone, I looked inside and saw the corpse. He was such a fool. He didn't have the slightest idea that I'd seen him."
I could see the sweat and panic forming on Mondo.
"So...you're saying you knew who the culprit was from the very beginning?"
"Indeed. But if that had been the end of it, how boring would that have been? I mean, what a waste of time to have the answer revealed right at the beginning. Which is why I decided to...lend a little helping hand. I thought it would liven things up."
Now this is my kind of guy.
"So after hearing about Genocide Jack from Toko, you decided to use that to create the fake murder scene?"
"Well obviously I would have revealed the truth before it reached that point. Of course... Thanks to a certain remarkable someone, it never did. And I was able to perform an interesting experiment. Once I do decide to become blackened, I now know who I'll have to watch out for."
He glances over at me then back to the courtroom. Celestia notices.
"Hmph. Whatever, it doesn't matter. In the end, I'm going to stand alone as the victor. And then everything will be revealed to me. I'm going to find you and kill you. Understand?"
Monokuma laughs manically.
"Well with all that concluded, iiiits... PUNISHMENT TIME!"
---------------------------------------------------
Once the execution is over, I notice Celestia staring at me.
"[Y/N] enlighten us won't you. How have you been so unphased throughout the whole trial even though you've told me yourself you took no part in investigating?"
My head perks up, I take a deep breath and hesitate to answer. I'm interrupted just as I'm about to speak.
"And would you care to explain why you sided with Togami's deception earlier in the trial?"
"I had to."
Toko pipes up.
"Please! Don't tell me you told him your secret too!?"
"No, I didn't."
Byakuya side eyes me. What the fuck?! Is he bluffing? Taunting me? Or does he genuinely know??
"Then why did you side with him? Why has this trial not bothered you in the slightest?!" Exclaims Celestia.
"Because I simply do not care."
"Ugh, you and Master deserve each other." Toko whines. "Both of you are insane for being bored and messing things up. I don't want you getting a headstart!"
"Toko, shut up." yells the blonde.
"The trial has conceded now Monokuma let us out."
As the students leave the trial room, something is slipped into my pocket.
