I have no feeling in my arms, legs, body, face, nothing. Even though I'm laid down my head feels like its spinning and my eyes wont focus. My brain feels like it's on the verge of falling out my head and I cannot turn around.

(a/n) haha this is a somewhat accurate description of waking up from surgery. i should know.

But I do feel something somewhat strange on my forehead. As I try to focus to the side of me the feeling stops. My head hurts as I try to look and see who exactly is sat beside me but I'm unsuccessful. All I see is black trousers, presumably a man sitting patiently beside me. I just roll back onto my back and allow my eyes and mind to adjust to my surroundings.

Once I regain my ability to focus I look beside me to see Byakuya sat down on the chair, looking down at the floor silently, not realising I'm awake. He has his hands on his lap and he's fiddling with his hands.

I don't really have the energy to say anything and I still feel dizzy so I look over at him until he realises and says something.

He turns around and looks down but then looks right at me when he notices I'm awake.

"Ludenberg wanted you as an accomplice?"

"Huh."

I couldn't entirely process what he said nor why he started with that right when I woke up. I still feel numb and I just look at him.

"I won't bombard you with questions. I understand you might need your rest."

He sounds oddly gentle? It's bizarre. It doesn't suit him. Is he being nice? He's just sat there patiently waiting for some reason.

"I'll wait until you properly regain your consciousness. There's a lot to unpack from the trial."

The trial already happened and concluded? Is it the same day? Is it nighttime? Is it the next day?

"If its late you should go to bed."

My voice is so slurred what the hell? I can think so much clearer than I can sleep.

"No you dimwit, I wouldn't come and see you right after the trial. How would I know if you were even out of surgery yet? Its the post trial day."

Well there we go. Back to normal.

I turn around to my other side to see a tray of cafeteria food on the bedside table.

"I supposed you'd be pleased to eat after surgery since I doubt Monokuma would think to feed you."

"What the fuck is wrong with you?"

He looks a bit dumbfounded and disgusted that those words were the first things I said to him post-surgery. I didn't say it in a hostile tone, more like a confused one. Like, why is he being so nice?

"Wow."

That's all he says. He continues to look dumbfounded as his eyes are narrowed at me.

"I'm going to excuse that as you're currently still pretty out of it."

I am not gonna lie. It's very difficult to want to focus on what he's saying. Blame selective hearing or something.

"You think I'm pretty?"

"You're hopeless. Just shut up and don't speak until you feel better."

"You aren't denying ittt." I say in a sing songy voice.

"That's because I never said it in the first place. You're just delusional. I'll just wait to speak."

After about five minutes, I regain the strength to sit up. My focus has improved and I moved the tray of food to my lap.

"May I speak now without you misconstruing my words?" He says, his tone irritated.

"Yeah..." I say casually.

"I can tell you aren't quite... conscious enough quite yet, but you seem competent enough to listen."

"Okaaay..."

"Stop dragging out your words you idiot. Ludenberg wanted you to be an accomplice? Did you kill Yamada? Did you unfairly have her cast as the blackened since you were here in the infirmary?"

"No no.. ugh so many questions."

Why did it come out like that?

"I didn't touch the fatty, he slashed me before I had a chance and Celestia finished him off."

I look down slightly, I'm sad I couldn't be present for Celeste's trial but I'm also glad that I didn't have to see her death happen.

"You've gone quiet. She meant a lot to you right?"

I don't respond.

"No need to dwell on the past. You can only look forward to the future."

"How could you say that."

That's the first proper sentence I manage to say to him.

"Don't you dare speak of her like that. I know you may have trouble making friends here and I know I did too. So don't you dare disrespect the only person I had here."

"Onl-? Nevermind. I won't add further comment. I understand even someone as insane and heartless as you to create a killing game may need to grieve."

He sits back up in his chair and looks away from me and I lift a hand up to my head.

"Why do you care about her so much? You care about nobody here. That's why you trapped us here initially and are too stubborn to just let us leave-" He mumbles quietly.

"SHUT UP! Shut up! You cannot say that about her."

"Ooh defensive huh? That's the loudest I've ever heard you be and you're post op." He chuckles.

"You liked her didn't you? Shame she didn't like you very much."

"If you have nothing productive to tell me, just leave. I am not in the mood for your bullshit Byakuya."

"I only wanted to pay you a visit."

"You. Are. Pissing. Me. Off. Leave."

"Okay, okay... I see you're riled up. I expect you'll be healed soon.  One question though, does the infirmary have... cameras?"

He seems weary as he says that, as if he was anxious about something.

"Why do you ask? Are you embarrassed to reveal how long you've sat there?"

"... Not exactly just, answer my question."

"Yes there are cameras."

"Will you be... watching them?"

"Why? Worried about what I might see?"

"No, no...."

He has a slight blush on his face as he stands up from his chair.

"Just heal up, bartender. Goodnight."

He leaves the infirmary without another word.

"Goodnight? Didn't he say it's not night?"
