Zora POV

I can't get what Carter said out of my head and it's been a whole damn week. I mean, I can totally see why he's angry, but he said he would support my decision.

"Ms. Allen?" Mrs. Harrison said.

"Huh?"

"Do you know the answer?"

"Uh, no ma'am." I admit. The bell rung.

"I would like to have a word with you Zora." She sighs. I stayed put. Once everyone left. She shut the door. "You know you're my favorite student and all, but I can't keep allowing you to drift off in class."

"I'm sorry, I don't do it purposely. But I'm gonna try to stay awake." I nod.

"Well, I had a dream about fish ya know?" She smiles.

"Oh gosh." I sigh.

"I'm not judging you. I have no right to, just like no one else."

"I wish everyone else thought like that. When this gets out, everything changes for me."

"And Carter?"

"Well he- wait how'd you know?"

"Everyone in class just about was discussing the locker room incident." She nods. "The fight between your brother & Carter."

"Well there goes everything." I sigh.

"Don't let anything people say get to you okay? I know what it's like to be with child in high school." She nods. "And the guy that got me pregnant wanted the baby so bad. And now we're married with two more kids. I wanted to give up so bad because of the dirty looks of disapproval and mean words. But I made it, and I think I'm probably the happiest woman alive. After all, happiness is key. No matter what it looks like to anyone else. Just keep that in mind."

Although she was trying to help, Mrs. Harrison gave me a lot more to think about. I walk into the cafeteria with Andrea and it seemed like everyone was talking and stopped when they saw me. I hurry over to my seat after getting this terrible lunch. I just wanted to cry.

"We can go out for lunch if you want." Andrea says.

"It's cool." I look at my hands. I look over at Carters' table. Amber was all over him. And he didn't even seem to mind. He hasn't made any real effort to be with me. All he does is ask if I'm alright and if I need anything. He doesn't say 'I love you' when he hangs up or anything now.

"Don't even look over there Z." Andrea shakes her head.

The day went by so slow. All I wanted to do was sleep.

For a very long time.

I could no longer pretend that I was happy with the decision Zora made. It's unfair that I had no say so in the life of a child I put in her.
