Mihira dreamt that she was the monster from Shambhala. Ravenous and dark, hungry and powerful, antlers sprouting from her head and claws on her hands. Monstrous.

Mihira dreamt that she was sitting alone in a broken temple, wondering if she was on the right path. Alone, wanting to die. Almost dead.

Mihira dreamt that she was in an unknown room. Someone held her hands, a shadow of someone. Her eyes fluttered and someone dropped a kiss on her palm, on her wrist. Content.

Mihira dreamt that she was sobbing, kneeling somewhere, uncaring for death. Blood stained her and for the first time in her life, she felt disgusted by blood on her hands. Vengeful.

Mihira dreamt that she died. Satisfied.

Mihira woke up with a gasp.

Virat was sleeping on his mattress, but his ears twitched. Mihira reached out and ran a finger between his eyes. He relaxed under her touch.

She tasted venom in her mouth. She swallowed it down.

Words taste like ash in her mouth. Mihira's mother goes to her father to patch him up.

Shaili waddles to her, hand outstretched and eyes worried. She tries to kiss Mihira's knuckles, torn and bleeding. Mihira takes her hand away before Shaili's mouth can be stained with her blood.

Shaili was trying to kiss her wounds better.

Mihira kisses her forehead,"Thank you."

She looks at her parents, her mother's hands tremble as she wipes Mihira's father's blood with her saree. Mihira body aches, she can barely breathe, and a tear slips out of her eyes.

Mihira clenches her teeth and gets up to disinfect her own wounds. Shaili will soon come to learn her maths with Mihira and she won't stain Shaili with blood.

She wishes someone would love her enough to ignore everyone else.

Eklavya sat across her with a large sigh.

When Mihira continued to ignore him to organise the stacks of her papers chronologically. Eklavya waited for one more moment before slumping forward all over her desk and draping himself on the desk. Mihira stared at him, less than impressed.

"I'm struggling." He said, cheek pressed to the wood on her desk. He would get a headache if he tried to roll his eyes to look her so much.

Mihira rolled her eyes, tying up the papers. "Clearly."

"No, help me!" Eklavya whined, almost. He relaxed his shoulders, falling lax on the desk even more.

Mihira sighed. "What happened, wild boy?"

"Saini's birth anniversary is coming up and I don't know what to give her!" Eklavya said, getting back up. He looked at Mihira earnestly. "I didn't even find out until like last night."
