Luke:

We had called the police, and they said Michael was to stay with us for the night whilst they arrested Steven.

I know Michael was petrified but I couldn't let him go back into that house with HIM there.

He was currently sat on our couch watching TV with me and my mother, nibbling on a slice of pizza. He didn't seem to be hungry at all, ever. But I knew that already. I didn't want to bring it up in front of my mother.

He seemed so scared as he sat in the corner of the room, not talking to us. My mum was so sympathetic but she didn't make him talk.

"Michael sweetheart are you tired?" She asked delicately.

"Um... Yeah." He spoke quietly.

"Luke will you go upstairs with Michael please?" She motioned to Michael and I nodded, walking with him to my room, helping him up the stairs.

Turns out he was fine, just traumatised and a concussion. But that didn't make it okay.

We got upstairs and Michael seemed to crumble, collapsing on my bed.

"Michael what's wrong?" I gushed, sitting next to him.

"I want to go home," he whimpered. "Mum will be missing me."
"I know she will but you'll see her soon, as soon as Steven is gone you can go back-"

"I know." He snapped, calming down afterwards and sighing. "Sorry. I didn't mean to talk to you like that."
"It's fine Mikey." I say.

He goes and gets changed into pyjamas and I do the same and then I take my place on the floor, him in my bed.

"Night Mike."

"Night Luke."

It had been about an hour since I was sure Michael was asleep when I was woken by a loud screaming. I rushed to stand, slightly dizzy as I made my way over to Michael.

"Michael," I cry, shaking him. "Wake up."

He opens his eyes and sits up quickly, panting as he wiped his sweaty forehead.

"What happened? Did you have a nightmare?"

He nodded and burst into tears. I gasped and hugged him tightly. "Whatever it was, it wasn't real okay? None of it was real."
He nodded again as if unable to speak as he sniffled uncontrollably.

"Just get back to sleep," I say quietly and try to leave but he desperately pulled on my arm, whining.

"You want me to stay?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. I didn't wait for a reply because I already knew the answer.

I got under the duvet with him and held him close to my chest.

"Sweet dreams," I tell him, rubbing his hair soothingly until I heard soft snores.

My mum came in not long after and she smiled at me slightly, nodding before closing the door silently.

I desperately hoped Michael would be okay, he meant everything to me, even if he'd never believe that.
