Once I had dropped the boys back off at their house I was pooped. I pulled my truck back into the driveway and got out. I went to head inside when I noticed a light shining on my house, I turned around to see Ruby with a flashlight shining in my face.
"What are you doing?"I asked cringing.
"Well I was trying to get your attention but you were out of it so I turned my flashlight on,"she said motioning to her phone.
I put my hand over my face to block the bright light,"Can you turn it off?"
"Oh yea, right,"she said as she began to fumble with her phone to turn the light off.
The sun was still out just peaking over the houses. I hadn't realized how long we had stayed out. Ruby finally got the light turned off and looked back up to me.
"So wanna hang out?"she asked hopefully,"we can talk about boys."
Her wiggling eyebrows indicating we were going to be talking about the new neighbors. I sighed and gave a soft chuckle,"as long as I get to lay in your bed and eat kettle corn popcorn."
She bowed down in the most dramatic way ever,"why of course my queen."
We both giggled as she stood back up and we ran across the street to her place. We ran inside and waved quick hellos to her aunt and uncle before running up to her room. As we were passing Oliver's room a blush pressed against my cheeks remembering my dream from last night.
I was pulled from my daze as Ruby giggled at me and tugged on my arm for us to go to her room. I shook my head and followed her into her room before slumping into her bed. She always had an unnecessary amount of pillows all over her bed and I relished being engulfed by them.
She tossed yet another pillow at me as she left the room to go get the popcorn. This was our tradition, we would stay up late talking about boys while eating popcorn and watching scary movies. Well she'd talk about boys while I only wanted to talk about Oliver.
I snuggled into her pillows and closed my eyes as I waiting for her return. I moaned as the smell of freshly popped popcorn wafted upstairs.
"You ok?"Oliver asked from the door making me jump up from my spot.
"Oh! Yes I'm fine,"I said fidgeting with my clothes.
"You moaned."
"I did not!"I protested.
A smirk formed on his lips as he looked at me making me blush,"oh yes you did."
I felt my ears heat up at his low tone and grabbed a pillow and chucked it at him. He dodged with unrelenting grace and my pillow found a new target. My precious popcorn. Ruby squealed as the popcorn flew everywhere and the bowl fell to the ground.
"No!"I cried out and jumped up from the bed,"why couldn't you just take it!"
"It's not my fault you wanted to assault me."
"Yes it is,"me and Ruby said in unison which caused us both to giggle in shock that we spoke at the same time.
"You two are creepy,"he chuckled as he bent down to help us clean up the popcorn.
"I'll go make another bowl,"Ruby said in a defeated tone.
"My poor popcorn,"I grumbled under my breath as I continued to put the ruins of sweet deliciousness in the bowl.
