I was called downstairs to help set up for dinner. It was our weekly Saturday dinner with the neighbors. This time my mom invited the Summers family, the Night family, and tacked on the Turners down the street.
The Turners consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Turner, their two daughters who were a Junior and a freshman that went to our school as well as a son who was also a junior at my school. Their son, Ian was on the football team with Oliver and was the quarter back.
Him and Oliver hung out a lot and we're best friends. If Oliver wasn't home he was hanging out with Ian. Oliver had two other friends that were apart of the football team and the four of them were stuck like glue.
Ian was always goofy and kind. Honestly if I wasn't hung up on Oliver I probably would've fallen for Ian. He was tall and super muscular. His blond curls and deep blue eyes always made girls act like they were in heat.
Ian's sisters both had long blond hair and matching blue eyes. The younger of the two had a hint of brunette to her hair that the other two didn't have. I think she got it from their mom who was a brunette through and through.
The older sister was Ian's twin, Samantha. And his younger sister was named Haley. I was actually excited to see the Turners since it had been a month since I had seen them. I helped set the tables. With how many people we had coming over my mom had set up another folding table in the living room.
When everyone showed up I helped my mom pour wine for all the parents while Ruby and her aunt got drinks for the kids. Finally after we all were sat and eating I had found myself in a different situation from last week.
I had been sat in between Oliver and Chris with Ruby across from me. Luke was across from Chris and Ian was on the other side of Ruby. It felt so weird being sat in between the two guys that I liked.
Ian and Oliver talked a lot about football and halfway through the meal Luke and Ruby switched seats so he could join in on their conversation. Chris kept his eyes on me the whole meal unless he was looking to his plate. I felt so flustered under his stare.
I would occasionally feel another pair of eyes looking at me but when I glanced over to Oliver he seemed to be still be fully engulfed in his conversation with the other guys. Chris, Ruby, and I had our own conversation about the classes we were taking this year and we were giving Chris pointers of good parking spots and lunches to avoid.
"So what kind of car do you drive anyways? I've only ever seen Luke's and your mom's cars,"Ruby said to Chris.
"I don't have a car,"he said,"I have a motorcycle though."
This comment peaked Ian's interest,"Yo! You have a motorcycle?"
Chris offered a soft chuckle,"yeah, got it when I was 15."
"That's cool. You outta let me check it out sometime,"Ian said fully forgetting the conversation he was just apart of.
Oliver barely glanced over before looking down to his plate and moving the left over food around. I knew he was done eating long ago but he always waited before other people stopped eating before he would say he was.
"I think I'm full,"I said pushing my plate away from me slightly, hoping to put Oliver out of his misery.
"Me too,"he said starting to stand up,"I can take your plate."
I rushed to stand up,"no you are the guest it's fine I'll do it."
Next thing I knew my chair caught on the edge of one of the tiles and the backs of my knees collided with the chair. And then I was falling backwards. I felt the cold of the floor smash into my side as the chair managed to fall over ontop of me.
