The best word I can use is safe
To describe how I have felt these days
That's one of my biggest needs
To help feel like I'm okay
That I can be open
To be just me.
I can ask anything
Say what I want
And not be afraid
That I'll scare you away.
It's such a relief
To not have to worry about competing
That takes energy that I don't have anymore
I've left that behind
I'm not doing that to prove my worth
I know I'm so much more
Than just my looks
And maybe a few laughs.
I feel so safe
Telling you about me
You say nothing can scare you away
My demons are gone
And may never come back
Even if they do
Hopefully those don't scare you
You're so open
And I love it.
I don't have to pretend everything is okay
Or you'll just walk away
You know my life isn't easy
But you're still there for me.
And that means
More than I could ever say
It helps me feel even more safe.
