There are some things that can't be fixed
The thoughts
The memories
That I can't write away
That the drinks can't erase.
You can spend all the money you want to
It won't change the anxiety
The quiet fear I feel around you
I've tried everything I know
The distance between us just grows.
I can handle it
I've grown used to the feelings
The anxiety that rises inside me
Makes me shake
Want to be far away
Not from everyone, just you.
show me all the love you can
But you can't bring me all the way back
To where I'll ever be okay
Feel totally safe and secure
Not have to watch my words
Not have to jump at every touch
To give you what I know you want.
You say you've changed
But so much is still the same
I have learned to hold so much in
You only get a little of my thoughts
The rest I hold onto
Far away inside
A place you'll never see
I built it so you couldn't hurt me.
