{chapter 16}

"So, why did you wanna see me?"

"Forgive me, Marco"

Jeans POV

it's been a week since Marcos passing. I stood up from my seat as class was dismissed. i glanced over to the empty desk on my right. Marco used to sit there. I walked out of class only able to think about Marco. according to the police, he was murdered. but... by who?

I head over to the cafeteria and took a seat next to mikasa. opposite the both of us were levi and petra. "jean" i glanced over to mikasa who was calling my name. "Say, do you know where Eren was that night?" I asked mikasa. after a slight period of silence, she finally replied."he... he said he was going to meet Marco.." Before I could get up from my seat to find Eren, petra stood up "let's not jump into conclusions" she said with a firm voice. I sighed and sat down once more.

*time skip!*

Petra's POV

"something doesn't seem right" I said, closing my locker door. I looked over to levi who was leaning on the locker beside mine. "don't you think so?" I asked him. "So, are you saying that you think Eren isn't a murderer? Petra, he almost killed Jean the other day" I looked down then back up,facing the boy before me.

"I'll talk to Eren"

"I'll come wit-"

"No, I'll talk to him myself"

I walked away to head over to my class and so did levi. Something doesn't seem right. I know it.

Erens POV

I walked passed the lockers and all eyes were on me.

"Do you think he really did kill Marco?"

"Might be possible, he did attempt to kill Jean the other day"

"I'm sure it was him"

"Poor mikasa"

"I didn't do it!!!!" I yelled to the top of my lungs and ran away with tears in my eyes. I didn't do it, I would never want to kill Marco? I didn't know how fast or how far I was running. during that very moment, it was just me and my thoughts. The same sentence repeating in my mind.

'I didn't do it'

I heard a voice call out for my name but I ignored it. I just kept on running until I felt a hand grab mine. I turned around to see Armin. "let me go" I told him, sobbing. "no i wont, Eren I know you didn't do it" he told me. I'm glad,that I have a friend like Armin. he was always there for me. after I calmed down, Armin walked me to my locker so I could take my backpack and head home. As I shut my locker door, i saw Jean charge towards me with mikasa beside him.

"You did it didn't you!!" He yelled at me. "I didn't!!" I yelled back with tears forming in my eyes once more. "liar! You met Marco that night!" "No, I didn't! I didn't have the chance to meet him because he said that he wanted to have dinner with you so I was supposed to meet him the next day!" And that's when the whispering started.

"He's lying"

"There's no way we can trust Eren"

"He's such a liar"

"Everyone, stop" I saw petra appear from the crowed along with levi beside her. "erens telling the truth" she said. "What proof do you have?!" A boy yelled.

"Because I was with Marco an hour before his death"

Petra's POV

*flashback*

"I will forever love that movie" Marco said raising his hands up in the air. He got up and checked the time on his watch. "well,i should get going I'll be having dinner with Jean tonight" he said walking towards the door. "I thought you were going to meet Eren?" I asked him standing up. "nah I'll see him tomorrow. bye" he said walking out of the door.

*end of flashback*

Erens POV

The room was silent. but not for long as Jean grabbed my neck posing me against my locker. "he's lying! He's probably lied to petra too!" He was about to punch my face when Mikasa's hand took a grip on his. "no jean, I believe that your the one who's lying" jeans eyes widened as he let me go. I fell on my knees and Armin knelt down rubbing my back.

"Mikasa, are you saying you don't believe me?" He asked

"Yes I am. your forgetting the point that I live with Eren" her eyes narrowed on jean. jeans mouth opened to speak but he was interrupted by mikasa."and the other day when we were at the park, I saw and heard every single word you told eren."

"Mikasa i-"

"Oh, and another thing I was with Marco during his last breath and I was the one who called the police. I asked him a questioned which the answer were his last words. And so I know..." mikasa charged towards Jean and grabbed him by his collar

"You killed marco, didn't you?"

"Yeah I did" he said in reply. being able to loose Mikasa's grip, he made an attempt to run away but only being caught by two policeman who charged towards him from the two classroom doors. "dammit!" Jean yelled struggling to escape. the two policeman dragged him out of the school grounds and got him to get into the police car.

Mikasa's POV

I saw Eren leaning against the wall. he saw me as I slowly approached him. "you were pretty badass over there" he told me, smiling. I looked down and clenched my fist. "I'm sorry" i said. "I'm sorry I've been ignoring you lately" my eyes widened as he pulled me in for a hug.

"Don't do that to me ever again. i thought you would hate me forever" he hugged me tighter and I hugged back. after a short brief of silence, i finally decided to speak.

"I love you" I confessed. we pulled apart from the hug but still holding each other "I'm sorry, what was that?" Eren asked smirking at me. "I said I love you" I said in reply slightly smiling. "I'm sorry what?" He asked once more. "shut up I know you love me too"

Eren leaned towards me with his eyes closed and pressed his lips against mine. i kissed back, holding him closer to me.we pulled away from the kiss and looked into each others eyes. Eren grabbed my hand.

"Let's go home"
