Divya's POV

"So your plan is to just... never tell your parents then?" Kaden asked as she grabbed a gallon of milk and put it on the cart.

"What they don't know won't hurt them." I shrugged. "It's not an actual engagement that's eventually going to happen, so what does it matter?"

Kaden hummed as she looked at the cereals, "Cheerios or Cinnamon Crunch?"

I thought for a second before answering. "Cinnamon Crunch."

She threw it on the cart and went on to grab some other snacks she usually got. Kaden was probably the best person to go to the market with, she was very relaxed and always had answers when I was indecisive between products.

"I have a date tonight." Kaden suddenly revealed surprising me... a lot.

"A date?" I tried to mask the surprise but it was almost impossible to.

She nodded, "It's not a big deal I met him on Hinge."

"With a Hinge man? Jesus Christ Kaden." I chuckled at the look she was giving me.

"I'm trying to move on."

I stopped and turned into a serious mood, "I know... and if this is what you need to start to do that know that I'm here. I'll go undercover to that date to keep and eye on you."

"That would actually be really helpful." Kaden said more to herself than to me but I heard her.

"Just tell me the place and I'll be there."

Kaden raised a brow at me and chuckled. "I'm starting to think you are just bored out of your mind."

"Sort of, I don't have a real job yet, but I still would help you regardless if I was bored or not you know that—we've done it before." I grabbed a six pack of Heineken beers and put them on the cart. "Remember when one of my dates was going so bad you showed up and pretended to be my wife in the middle of the restaurant?"

Kaden laughed at the memory and I found myself smiling because of it, she's been having a couple of rough days—missing Jessie more than usual so getting a laugh out her lately seems like an achievement.

"Some of the best acting of my life I might say." She said once her laughter ceased.

"It was, you are a closeted theater kid. You could be winning Oscars if you embraced it."

"Never."

"Right you were a skater girl—white trash." I said earning a push as I laughed.

"Haha you are so fucking funny." Kaden said rolling her eyes while fighting a smile. "Just be there tonight."

Kaden

Stop staring at me you look like
a weirdo

He seems too short

Divya ffs

He kind of is...

I chuckled as I watched Kaden on her date from another table. This wasn't a fancy place at all, she came to the most 'this isn't anything serious' kind of place for a date—I told her she might as well take them to McDonalds next time.

"Here you go ma'am." The waitress with a southern accent said as she brought me my fries and beer.

"Thank you." I smiled and with a nod of her head and a quick 'you're welcome' she left me to myself again.
