Years later:

Agatha walked cautiously through the woods of Spain. She played with a bit of her magic in her hand, flipping it around in her fingers. She glanced through leaf-filled the trees.

Suddenly she was knocked off her feet by a blast of magic. She landed on the ground, face-down, but turned over and blocked the second blast away before it reached her.

And there Rio was, descending from where she was hidden in the trees, her hands glowing with magic.

"Took you long enough to find me, honey!" Rio yelled as she landed.

Agatha smiled and her eyes narrowed as she shot more magic back at Rio. She yelled in frustration as Rio deflected it. Rio's smirk fueled Agatha's next move, which was to stomp her foot and send the dirt around her rippling like it was water.

Rio was caught off balance, and Agatha used the opportunity to shoot a thin line of magic at her, sending her flying back. Agatha nimbly flew forward to reach her and snapped her fingers, making the native vines pull Rio to the ground.

Rio smiled as she made the vines explode, setting her free once more. Instead, she snapped her own fingers and Agatha was slammed up against a tree with more vines, some wrapping around her neck and restricting her breathing.

"Do you give up?" Rio asked, picking herself up off the ground and walking up to Agatha.

Agatha gasped for breath, but she gave a slurred laugh. "Not yet, my dear."

She released some of her magic in her chest, ripping apart the vines over her body. As soon as her limbs were free, she lunged forward and tackled Rio to the ground, twigs crunching underneath them.

"Oh love, why do we always end up this way?" Rio chuckled as she spun around under Agatha.

"Because it's the best way to fight," Agatha answered. "Plus it means we're not allowed to use our powers and you know you have the natural advantage."

"Maybe, but you always lose anyway."

Agatha gritted her teeth, blocking Rio's maneuver with her arm. "Not this time. Not since I know what's at stake."

Rio laughed as she threw her arm over Agatha's neck and flipped her over. Agatha held tight onto Rio though, and Rio yelped in surprise as she was pulled over Agatha as well, ending up in the same position as before.

"Come on Vidal, you know it's useless to fight it." Agatha muttered in Rio's ear.

In response, Rio took advantage of Agatha's bent head and shoved herself down and out from under her. But Agatha waited for Rio to turn herself over and as soon as she did Agatha lept on her back. A few seconds later and they were a tangled mess of limbs, with Agatha somehow managing to hold Rio in place. Her muscles strained, but luckily they didn't falter.

"How about you give up?" Agatha proposed through her labored breathing as Rio tried and failed to fight back.

"I guess you were right, love," Rio finally said. "I give up."

Agatha laughed triumphantly. She leaned over Rio's shoulder and kissed her neck. "I told you I would win."

"Yes you did," Rio agreed impatiently. "Now get off me before the rules of the game no longer apply and I blast you off of me instead."

Agatha held up her hands, letting Rio untangle herself and get up. Then she stood up. "Okay, so don't we have something to plan now?"

Rio rolled her eyes but smiled. "I still very much prefer to go with a commitment ceremony, if anything. The laws in countries aren't binding and they aren't permanent and—"

"Yes, yes, I know," Agatha interrupted, "we talked about this yesterday. You also agreed that whoever won this fight got to choose..."

"That is what I agreed to, yes. So whatever you choose, I support."

"And you won't hate it?"

Rio sighed, trying to looked annoyed but not prevailing. "Of course I won't hate it. You just know how I feel about human rituals."

Agatha smiled. "Wonderful." She gave Rio a peck on the lips and gestured down to the path they'd left once the fight had started.

Rio took Agatha's arm on her own and they started walking. "Who do we even bring to the ceremony? There's literally no one."

"I have no clue."

"This is all just... very weird," Rio admitted. "I never thought I would ever commit myself to someone."

Agatha let out a laugh. "Trust me I know. I thought I was going to be alone for the rest of my life."

Rio didn't answer and Agatha looked at her. She was staring off into space.

"What are you thinking about?"

Rio snapped out of the stare, but her expression still looked worried. "Nothing, love."

"You know, I've never actually asked you if you've been with someone before," Agatha commented, voicing her thoughts.

"I was. A very long time ago." Rio bit her lip. "I don't think I ever loved him though. He was a means to an end and when I realized it was going too far and stopped it. It definitely didn't go far, though."

Agatha was taken aback by how upfront Rio was at her prompting. "Was it another witch? A warlock of some sort."

Rio furrowed her eyebrows. "Mm not exactly. He didn't live on this planet."

"Okay, so an extraterrestrial," Agatha confirmed, nodding.

She knew about how Rio was somehow able to handle the deaths all over the planets that surrounded the stars. It was still all a crazy concept, but she trusted Rio's explanation.

At Rio's uncomfortable expression, Agatha quickly clarified, "Oh, no, I'm not worried about this."

"Good," Rio replied, looking into Agatha's eyes. "He meant nothing to me."

Agatha felt something on her hand and jumped as she looked down at it. On her ring finger was now a wooden ring, a small vibrant flower blooming in its middle. She felt her heart accelerate as she looked up at Rio.

"I figured we should do this with style," Rio said at Agatha's shocked stare. "Do you like it?"

Agatha smiled. "It's wonderful."

"Then, Agatha Harkness, will you be my partner for all of time?"

Agatha nodded viciously "Rio, yes! Why else would I fight you endlessly for this?"

"I just needed words, Harkness."

Agatha let Rio's lips touch hers as she smiled, peace invading all corners of her heart. It was something that made Agatha wonder why she killed so many people. But now was not the time to think about that.

They continued down the road, hand in hand.

Have a great 48 hours! Idk why I chose 2 days, but I hope it's true.
