Agatha's mouth dropped open at Rio's words. She couldn't speak for a moment, then finally found the words. "I'm pregnant? You must be joking."
Rio shook her head. "I'm not joking."
"I-a-" Agatha's heart raced. She propped herself up to match Rio, her neck craning. "A- how?"
"I don't know," Rio replied quietly. "I had no idea I could even do this. I mean, I think it was me. The whole Green Witch thing. I can't believe it..."
"I... I..." Agatha's hand moved to her stomach as if she could check to see if it was true. "If it's true—"
"It's true."
"... but I can't be a mother!" Agatha exclaimed, feeling her breath catch as her body froze.
"Why not?" Rio asked. "I think you'd be great!"
"Rio, I have no experience taking care of... anything! Hell, my own mother didn't even raise me well!"
"You're nothing like your mother, Agatha," Rio reassured her forcefully.
Agatha was at a loss for words. This was completely out of nowhere. It made sense, given Rio's powers as the original green witch, but...
Out of all her questions, only one stood out.
What if she didn't love the baby?
The thought made her shiver, thinking back to her own experiences. Her mother most certainly didn't love her, so how could Agatha expect to be different?
And the thought of painstakingly going through pregnancy and the years of raising someone she didn't love made her feel conflicted.
"Listen," Rio said as Agatha stayed silent, turning the news over in her head. Rio touched Agatha's arm, making her realize how tense her muscles were. "It's going to be okay."
Agatha slowly nodded in response, forcing herself to relax. Looking into Rio's eyes, she felt a tiny flicker of something in her chest, among all her fear and anxiety.
Joy.
Agatha bit her lip. That's what it was, all right. She was... happy about it. The feeling made goosebumps on her arms. She'd never wanted children, and yet here she was.
She was happy about having a kid.
"Yeah," Agatha said, finally moving and returning to laying face-up in the sheets, forcing herself to relax. "We're going to have a baby."
Saying it out loud made it much more real. But somehow Rio made it okay.
Rio grinned wide, making Agatha's lips twitch up despite herself. She laid back down right next to Agatha and her arm reached around Agatha's middle. Agatha took a deep breath at the peacefulness and wrapped her arms around Rio.
"Is it a boy?" Agatha asked Rio after a second.
"I don't know," Rio answered as she snuggled closer, stroking Agatha's hair.. "I can't tell yet."
"I feel like it's going to be a boy." Agatha smiled as she watched Rio close her eyes. "No, we can't fall to sleep again. Aren't you already behind with your work?"
"Mm yeah, but it can wait," Rio responded happily, not opening her eyes.
Slowly, Agatha let her own eyes close as the sound of their breathing synchronized.
Despite her panicked moments before, all Agatha felt now was peace.

Time for a couple happy chapters!
Before... 😭
Seriously I'm gonna write a modern-day AU where Nicky doesn't die. Because I just need them and their shenanigans as a silly happy family. Comment suggestions for small plot lines if you have any!
Have a wonderful day!
