IT WAS EARLY MORNING, and the first light filtered through the intricate lace curtains of diana's room, casting delicate patterns across her bedspread. she had barely slept. the previous night's events replayed in her mind, each memory vivid and electrifying. felix's presence, their shared dance, the quiet strength in his gaze as he promised to stay by her side—all of it had left her in a daze.
a knock at her door pulled her from her reverie. "come in," she called softly, sitting up and wrapping herself in a silk robe.
it was her lady-in-waiting, julia, carrying a breakfast tray. but julia's face held a knowing look that made diana pause.
"good morning, your highness," julia greeted, setting down the tray with a polite bow. but as she straightened, her expression softened. "i couldn't help but notice you seemed... rather taken with one of the guests last night."
diana's cheeks flushed, and she quickly looked away, feigning interest in her cup of tea. "i have no idea what you mean," she replied, her voice light but unconvincing.
julia raised a brow, her smile gentle yet observant. "your highness, i've known you since you were a baby. you're not as unreadable as you might think."
diana exhaled, abandoning her attempt to play coy. "alright," she admitted, her voice a whisper. "but it's complicated."
julia nodded knowingly. "the young man from the concert?"
diana looked up, startled, but Julia's expression was patient, understanding. it was moments like these when diana was grateful for her lady-in-waiting's quiet presence, the unwavering support she'd come to rely on.
"perhaps it's more complicated for you than for him," julia murmured, glancing toward the window. "but sometimes, complicated things are the most worthwhile."
diana sighed, resting her hands on the warm porcelain teacup. "it's not that simple. you know how...restrictive my life is. i can barely walk down the street without permission, let alone... pursue a relationship."
julia watched her with sympathy. "your highness, i think you should consider what makes you happy, truly happy. even if that means doing something out of the ordinary." she gave diana's shoulder a reassuring squeeze before departing, leaving her with a sense of clarity and, oddly, courage.

MEANWHILE, FELIX SAT IN HIS HOTEL ROOM, gazing out at the early morning view of the city. he hadn't expected last night to have such a profound effect on him. diana's presence lingered in his thoughts, the memory of her smile, her graceful movements, the way she had looked at him with a kind of yearning that mirrored his own.
the reality of their situation weighed on him. She was a princess—living in a world of royal expectations and public scrutiny. he was a kpop idol from a different world entirely. the odds were stacked against them in nearly every way.
