AS DAWN CREPT OVER THE HORIZON, diana slipped quietly back into the palace, her heart still fluttering from her time with felix. she replayed the night in her mind, each moment vivid, each shared laugh and tender touch lingering like a soft melody. she'd never experienced something quite like this—a feeling so consuming, so full of warmth and light. she felt as if she'd stepped into a dream she never wanted to leave.
her footsteps were soft against the plush carpet as she moved through the hallways, past the familiar tapestries and portraits that lined the walls. the palace was silent at this hour, and she found comfort in the solitude, a moment to herself before the demands of her royal duties began. her thoughts drifted to felix, to the promise in his eyes as he'd held her close, whispering that he would wait for her. she knew their relationship wasn't simple; it was fraught with challenges, but the thought of him gave her strength she hadn't felt before.
as she entered her room, diana paused in front of the mirror, catching a glimpse of herself. there was something different in her expression—something softer, happier. she touched her fingers to her lips, remembering the feel of his kiss, the way his hands had cradled her face as if she were the most precious thing in the world. a small, secret smile curved her lips, one she quickly masked as a gentle knock sounded at her door.
"come in," she called, quickly composing herself as her younger brother, prince george, peeked his head around the door. his innocent blue eyes sparkled with curiosity as he padded over, still clad in his pajamas, a toy truck clutched to his chest.
"diana," he whispered, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "why are you awake so early?"
diana's heart softened at the sight of her little brothee, and she bent down to pull george into a warm embrace. "i just couldn't sleep, that's all," she murmured, running a gentle hand through george's hair. "sometimes big sisters have a lot on their minds."
george giggled, a sound like bells chiming, and looked up at diana with wide, knowing eyes. "is it about a boy?"
diana's cheeks flushed a deep shade of pink, but she kept her composure, giving george a playful nudge. "maybe," she admitted softly, letting herself share this small secret with her little sister. "but it has to stay between us, alright?"
george's eyes sparkled with excitement, and she gave an eager nod. "i won't tell anyone, i promise!"
after george left, diana sat by her window, watching the sun fully rise over the palace grounds. she knew that once the day began, the illusion of last night would fade, replaced by the reality of her responsibilities. but as the golden light filtered through her window, she held onto the warmth of felix's embrace, letting it guide her through the day.
across the city, felix was also caught in the afterglow of their night together. as he returned to his hotel room, he couldn't help but smile, his heart full of a feeling he couldn't quite put into words. he had never met anyone like diana before—someone who carried both strength and vulnerability, grace and passion, all in one person. he could still feel the softness of her hand in his, the gentle rhythm of her breathing as she'd leaned into him, trusting him with a part of herself she rarely showed.
