As they raced through the facility, drones poured out of every doorway, blocking their path. HQ had anticipated their move, and now they were trapped.
J gritted her teeth, firing at the oncoming drones with precision. "So much for stealth."
Uzi grinned, her energy gun blazing as she cleared a path. "I'm back in my element!"
N and Ch-last covered the rear, holding off the drones as the group fought their way toward the exit. The air was thick with smoke and the smell of burning metal, but they didn't stop. They couldn't.
Just as they reached the main doors, a massive security drone appeared, blocking their path. It towered over them, its red eyes glowing with malicious intent.
Ch-last stepped forward, her eyes narrowing. "Get out of our way."
The security drone let out a low, mechanical growl, its weapon systems activating. But before it could attack, Ch-last charged, her weapon slicing through its defenses with a fierce determination. Sparks flew as she brought the massive drone to the ground, leaving it in a smoking heap.
"Nice one, Ch-last!" N shouted, giving her an approving nod.
With the path clear, they burst through the doors and into the night, sprinting toward their escape vehicle. They dove inside just as the base's defenses kicked in, a barrage of gunfire chasing them into the dark.
As they sped away from the facility, Uzi clutched the data they'd recovered, her mind racing with thoughts of her mother. This was it. They finally had a lead. And no matter what it took, she was going to get Nori back.
Ch-last glanced at her, a soft smile on her face. "We'll find her, Uzi. I promise."
Uzi nodded, her eyes filled with determination. "I know we will. And HQ is going to regret ever messing with us."
