40. Suguru Geto

I was sleeping peacefully until I landed back in that same place. The void. Surrounded by black mist, binding me. Then, I heard a voice. No way.

"Akira," he called.

Suguru. But I couldn't speak.

I frowned as he continued, "Calm down. All I want to say is...I'm sorry." That sent my temper flaring. After everything he had done, this was all he had to say?

"You should know... the last person you met wasn't really Suguru." What? "All for One. He's controlling me. I can't resist, no matter how much I want to. This body isn't mine anymore." He paused, looking down before meeting my eyes, his face serious. "There's only one way to stop me."

I clenched my fists so hard that blood started to drip from palms.

"Kill me."

And the dream ended.

"A dream?" I looked down, noticing the blood on my hands. "No... it wasn't a dream. Just like the one Yuji appeared in..." I muttered, a chill running through me. I wanted to scream, to let this terror out, but no-I couldn't.

Trying to sleep after that was impossible. I lay there, gripping my shirt over my heart, feeling an ache I couldn't soothe. I can't kill him. I walked out my room and–

"Ahhhh!" A loud scream jolted me awake.

I rubbed my eyes, squinting at the flushed face in front of me.

"Akira? What are you doing here?" Uraraka, whom I affectionately called Teacup, looked at me, surprised.

"What happened?" Momo burst into the room, eyes wide. "Akira?"

I scratched my stomach and yawned. "Oh, I couldn’t sleep, so I just came over. Didn’t want to wake you up."

Momo chuckled. "You’re an idiot," she teased, and soon, we all started laughing as more of the girls gathered around.

"You look pretty even when you’re asleep," Teacup complimented.

"Oh! I wanted to see too!" Mina chimed in.

"Your eyes must glow at night, right?" Tsu asked, and I nodded.

"I wanna see!" Toru’s voice echoed from the corner.

"Let’s save the gossip for later," I said, glancing down at my healed hand, remembering the power I’d used. "Ara." I muttered, realizing I hadn’t told anyone here about the Reverse Cursed Technique. I’d kept it under wraps since I hadn’t needed it—until now.

Later, on a call with Nanami and Shoko

Akira: "Morning!"

Shoko: "Morning, Aki."

Nanami: "Morning. What is it now?"

Akira: "Suguru appeared in my dream… or something like it."

I explained everything, down to the tiniest detail.

Shoko: "He’s being controlled? And why didn’t you tell us about Yuji earlier?"

Akira: "I thought it was just a dream."

Nanami: "Next time, inform us. As for Suguru, we still can’t trust it completely."

Shoko: "He’s right. Anyway, keep us posted if anything happens. I have work now, so bye."

Akira: "Bye."
