Ring... ring... ring

The sound of a phone ringing pierced the morning air. Today was the day the baby gate they had ordered was set to be delivered. Day and Brick had started gradually stocking up on necessary items for their home. Brick grabbed his phone to check and saw it was Ball calling. He and Ball had kept in touch intermittently, although Ball hadn’t visited Brick often as he was busy with his own business.

"Hello, Ball," Brick answered, turning to look at Day, who was watching the staff set up the padded baby gate. They had decided to install it in two places: in the bedroom and downstairs. So, Day was helping oversee the moving process.

"Yes, I'll be here. Are you coming over? Just a moment," Brick said on the phone when Ball mentioned he wanted to drop by to bring some gifts. Brick needed to check with Day first to see if it was convenient.

"Day, can Ball come over this afternoon? He wants to bring us some gifts," Brick asked. Day paused for a moment before nodding his head in agreement.

"He can come in the afternoon. It wouldn’t be convenient if he comes now," Day replied, gesturing towards the staff who were delivering the baby gate, as he planned to install it himself.

"Okay, Ball, you can come by. Oh, it’s not a bother... yes... yes. See you soon," Brick said, wrapping up the call before hanging up. He then went to help Day with the moving process.

Once everything was set up, Day tried out the padded baby gate, which was made to be safe and sturdy.

"It’s pretty big. We could fit down there and lie down with the baby together," Brick remarked, looking at the size of the finished baby gate.

"It’s adjustable. We can change its size to fit our needs. We can remove this side and then extend this part," Day demonstrated for Brick, who smiled with satisfaction.

"But let’s store it away for now and put it together again when we bring the baby home," Brick suggested, and Day agreed, taking the baby gate to store it in a corner of the house.

They then went upstairs to see the other baby gate that would connect to their bed.

The sound of a doorbell caught Brick ’s attention, indicating it was probably Ball’s arrival since it was exactly one o'clock. Brick rushed to open the gate so Ball could drive in.

"Hi, Ball!" Brick greeted as Ball stepped out of the car, and Ball offered a faint smile in return.

"Hi, Brick. I just got back from Japan and brought you something. Is P'Day around?" Ball asked, inquiring about Day.

"He's inside. Come in!" Brick replied, and Ball opened the trunk to retrieve his gifts, handing them over to Brick.

"Thank you!" Brick said, even though he had previously mentioned not to bother bringing gifts, but Ball always seemed to do so. Brick didn’t want to refuse and hurt Ball’s feelings. They both walked into Brick's home.

"Hello, P'Day," Ball greeted with a slight bow, and Day nodded in response.

"Please, have a seat," Day said casually.
