But not this time. She wasn't gonna win today.

I tried to remember the times I spend with Jamie, but unfortunately I couldn't remember much. So I just thought about the times I could remember.

About how sweet he was to me, even when I seemingly betrayed him a few times now, he still kept trying.

Over and over again.

I thought about Stormi, even though she clearly didn't like me, I knew she wanted Jamie to be happy with me.

She could've killed me several times now and no one would really blame her.
But she didn't.

Instead she got Jamie's heart back.

I also thought about Riven, who I considered my best friend, until everything happened.

I definitely had to make it up to him.

I opened my eyes again, looked at my mother, who's eyes widened a little.

I looked down at myself, fire was burning around me.

I looked back at my mother, and instead of letting her control my powers, I let it rain fire around her.

She was standing in a circle of fire, I was gonna burn her alive.

The fire reached her body, and I could hear her yell out, there was nothing she could do. She couldn't control me, she couldn't wield fire.

"Phoenix will hun-" she yelled out before a huge lightning strike hit her.

She fell down on the ground, she wasn't moving anymore, wasn't breathing.

The queen was dead. My mother was dead.

I killed her, together with Jamie.

The fire around my body went away, and everything calmed down.

I looked at Jamie, who was already looking at me. His eyes weren't as dark anymore.

I ran up to him, wrapped my arms around his neck as he pulled me against his body.

"I love you, Jamie" I smiled. "And I love you, Aurora" he answered.

Our lips crashed against each other. His hand on my cheek, while the other rested against my back.

It was like the world fell away, nothing else mattered.

Only his lips against mine, his tongue brushing against mine.

And I didn't have to imagine how he would taste like. I knew exactly how he tasted.

He didn't taste like something you could describe. It was more a feeling.

He tasted like thunderstorms and fireplaces.
Like fireworks and sparks.
Like fall evenings.

He tasted like he was mine.

"You don't even realize how long I waited for this" he said against my lips.

"Decades, I guess?" I chuckled. "Yeah literally" he laughed.

He put his hand on the back of my head and kissed my forehead. "Queen Aurora"

Right, I didn't even realize it until now.

With my mother dead, I was the queen now. The queen of Velora.

I put my head against his chest while holding him close. "You're gonna help me, right?"

"I absolutely will" he kissed the top of my head.

That felt somewhat better, he ruled the kingdom beautifully, the kind of leader I aspired to be.

It would be the perfect moment, if not for the arguing from Riven and Stormi in the background.

"These two have bigger issues than your little peck with Riven" Jamie let out a chuckle as he looked over at them.

"Yeah?" I frowned.

"Prince Riven never told her how powerful he really is and princess Stormi likes to be the strongest in the room"

"So, do you think they will find their way back to each other?"

He shrugged. "If Stormi gets over herself maybe, so I don't think so"

I sighed, and Jamie pulled me even closer, looking down at Atarah.

It was over, it was finally over.
